Depends on what type of car you want really...
If you wanted a sports car, go for an MX5.
A Hatchback, Either a Focus or a Golf.
A Saloon, Audi A4 or BMW 3series.

If you want something small, quick and economical, get a Imported Nissan Pulsar GTiR.... Awesome.

depends wot kind of car u want.
something fast prob go for a scooby (import not UK) they faster. my mate just bought one. £3700 had no probs wiv it yet.
a first car. prob go wiv VW polo gti. very reliable, great interior, cheap to run and insure.
something big prob Honda accord. great car all round.

either way anything Japanese or new VW, Scoda (new skodas are a great buy) struggle findin one in ur price range tho. Fords are a good investment 2.

can't believe anyone would recommend a second hand saab or volvo. You are buying a world of pain if you get one of those. They are very expensive to maintain.

VW, or toyota are more appropriate for those of us on a limited budget.

buy a ford focus as cheap to insure/run and parts are also easy to get hold of and reasonable priced. It just so happens I have one for sale at 3500.

Any Japanese or Korean would be your best buy.

But avoid EU assembled ones if possible.
