Although chocolate is beneficial to your health, when a person consumes too much ... it becomes unhealthy.
Chocolate, when consumed in moderation, contains antioxidants, lowers LDL levels and contains serotonin boosters ... all of which are great benefits to the human body.
The caffeine in chocolate would be an unlikely culprit, in regards to your mood swings ... as there is only a minute amount of caffeine in chocolate (10x less than the average cup of java). More than likely, it's the sugar in the chocolate, that's causing your moodiness. You tend to feel good for a while after consuming chocolate, then, as your glucose levels plummet ... you get tired and moody... your body wants more.
If you want the health benefits and delicious taste of chocolate, without the bad side-effects, try a dark chocolate ... made with maltitol. You still get all the taste (no bad after-taste either) and health benefits, but you don't get the "crash and burn" effect. Give it a try .... good luck.

That's unusual. Maybe it's the caffeine and how much chocolate intake you have. I never knew chocolate can make you bad-tempered. I eat it and I'm fine.

Possibly it is the sugar rather than the chocolate that is causing the problem....Chocolate is not known for causing temper problems.

I have to be careful of all sweets because sugar makes me very irritable, as well as anything with caffeine in it. Experiment a bit, try other forms of sugary things and pay attention to what your body/moods do. How do you do with sodas or coffee with caffeine in them? For me chocolate is the worse, and all others are just not good for me.

That's very odd Gizzy because chocolate is considered to be
an aphrodisiac, a love stimulant.
Be careful not to eat it around the time of your monthly cycle
if it has that kind of effect on you. It may make things worse.

It could be the caffeine that makes you feel ill tempered. Too much of a good thing can do that.
