Warfarin may cause side effects. Warfarin may turn your urine red-orange; this effect is harmless. If you think your urine contains blood, call your doctor immediately. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
* headache
* upset stomach
* diarrhea
* fever
* skin rash
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
* unusual bleeding or bruising
* black or bloody stools
* blood in the urine
* tiredness
* unexplained fever
* chills
* sore throat
* stomach pain
BTW, did you know that Warfarin was originally developed as a rat poison? Look at Wikipedia on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warfarin

my husband is on Warfarin, and the dizziness you feel can be a sign that your blood is too thin. You need to see the doc immediately or go to emerge. If your blood is too thin it will not coagulate if you cut yourself and could actually could bleed to death. You know that Warfarin is a rat poison. You need to be monitored every week, maybe even two times a week until they get the proper dosage for you. 5 mg is a lot to start of with and that's why I suggest to go to emerge now, not tonight when all the drunks and overdoses show up. You don't want to end up peeing blood.
Unfortunately for people with heart disease to have to take it, but it is a necessity.

This is normal. Warfarin/Coumadin thins the blood to stop the formation of clots in the blood. It also can alter the Oxygen Carring Capacity of the Red Blood Cells. It usually takes about a week to one month to get use to the med. I have been on it for 11 years. Herbert West III Disabled Paramedic/Journalist west.herb@yahoo.com

Absolutly normal honey, when I had my first period I was amazed at the colour, we all hear and are told about bleeding but people forget to tell you it may not and is very unlikely to be blood red at the beginnning Dont panic though as the red blood will start soon enough unfortunalty :)

Yes, but call your doctor. A blood test is necessary to monitor the proper dosage of the drug.
