maybe it's retaining water. drink lots of fluids througout the day to prevent water retention. drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water is best. be careful about salty fluids or eating salty food, sodium makes you retain water.

Consult a doctor, There are underlying conditions causing swelling of the face, some are serious some are not, why take chances? See a doctor now because some laboratory tests are required to give a correct diagnosis. These can't be done on line.

Normally there will be some puffiness of face after a night long sleep due to the lying position causing more blood circulation to he head and face. if you have significant abnormal puffiness you should undergo blood investigations to rule out renal or kidney failure.

it could be dust mites or dust or dander or spores or even the kind of detergent or fabric softener you used to wash your sheets from your bedding or your bedroom, It may be causing similar symptoms like some allergy symptoms.

maybe wash all your sheets and blankets, vaccuum the mattress (make sure you wash the vaccuum attatchment/brush in something antibacterial or at least regular soap water before you rub it all over your mattress), get a new pillow, wash away the dust-bunnies under your bed ! wash your windows (there might be mildew that you may or may not see), open the windows to air out the room occasionally, just after you get up or just before you go to bed, get fresh air for several minutes or 1/2 hour. Any or all of this might be a big help.

Hi. May i ask how old are you? If you are over 35 years old and your face is swelling i would ask you to get an urine examination to check for the functional status of your kidneys. Also kindly get a complete blood count. All this tests is in consultation with a doctor.
Hope that helps.

Maybe because you drank too much water during the night before. Try not to drink water about 1 hour before you sleep.

Actually as you will discover that your body "swells" a little during sleep. This is absolutely normal for everybody. Think about it! blood circulates less during rest period; therefore, it will congregate throughout your body and gives that "swells" look. Does that make sense?
No need to thank me now.
