That would depend on the situation.
Now these days, most families are rather disfunctional. Not all of them, but a good heaping portion of families are. Some get along great while others struggle to not yell at each other all the time.

If your family member and you get along, that's great and above average. Secondly, what's the situation for them loosing the children? If it's drugs, well, are they wanting to go into rehab and help themselves? If it's to get better, I'd take them in a heartbeat, IF the person is truely serious and not just doing it because their forced too.

Another thing, is this person going to hassle you a lot because you DO have their children? That's another thing to take into account.

Also, what therapy will these kids need to get better mentally due to the situation. Will they need special help, reassurance, or will they be aggressive and hard to control due to emotions.

All this should be taken into account.
Again, if it's abuse, well..will the family member be getting help?

Like I said, if it's be because this person needs help, AND is willing to get it, but can only do so if the kid's arean't about, me...personally...I'd give them a chance, but one chance.

If necessary, and if the conditions were right and called for it, I might even consider adopting the children or fostering them for much longer. All depends on the total situation.

Good luck.

Yes, just to keep the kids in the family. However, if this is an ongoing thing, I would take steps to make it a permanant situation where they never got the kids back. It wouldn't be good for me or the kids if it was a back & forth situation all the time.

Yes, I have been in that situation. Before I would let them go into a foster home I would take the kids in. Some foster parents can just be in it for the money and do really care about the kids. Not all foster parent are uncaring just some and I am sure you dont want to take that chance do you?

Yes, definitely if I had the resources to provide them with the things they need. I wouldn't think twice about it.

Since I've done it for friends, absolutely I would do it for family. We're pretty dysfunctional, it could happen.
