If you do an in-DEPTh study of the Bible, you'll find out that the people that God killed were very violent. They tortured & sacrificed children, among other horrible things. Do you really blame God for putting a stop to the pain & suffering they were causing? I don't think so. However, the vast majority of religions on earth are not following righteous standards. They are following their own standards of 'right' & 'wrong'. This is also true of the vast majority of people generally known as 'Christian' ...
Notice what 2 Th 2:3 says: "Let no one seduce you in any manner, because it will not come unless the APOSTASY comes first ..." The apostasy from True Christianity was also prophesied by Christ himself: Mt 7:21-23; compare 2 Co 11:13-35; 2 Pe 2:1; & Ro 16:17-18.
The history of the apostate is --as you hav epointed out-- absolutely HORRENDOUS! And this has not escaped God's notice! Have you read Rev 16:17 & 18? Did you receive your copy --last month-- of :

As Marx said, "Religion is the opium of the people...it is the heart of a heartless world." It is human nature to believe in God, somebody to turn to to hide from all the evil that exists around us, but there in itself lies the problem. David Hume's inconsistant triad - If God is all loving and all powerful then why do we live with evil at all?
It would be better for humankind if we could unite under our humanity rather than separate under different Gods.

I'm shopping for a religion right now actually. Can someone tell me which one is right?
I'm also confused on what exactly it is Jesus is "saving" me from? Hell? But I need faith to believe in hell because I've never seen one picture or heard one live account of this firey place? It's all hearsay?
So like yeah, I totally agree with you. It's all stupid and 9-11 happened in the name of Allah and the U.S. War on Terror is really the "War on Islam." Of course, we can't actually saaaaaaaaaaay that!

The point of religion is to control the masses. Without religion most people have no reason to have any moral grounding. They need fear of reprisal in order to be good. And religion makes it much easier for the leaders to use people.
Ever wonder why relgious groups are called a "flock"?

It's not religion that has caused he wars, but man, he has taken the true meaning of religion and turned it in to a weapon, so more people will follow the word of these killers who sit back and send others to their deaths in the name of God, and your right i think God, or what ever name you wish to give him is well fed up with us, and people wonder why so many bad things happen in the world today, we need faith in what ever God you believe in, and i's time to sor out what is true religion, and the meaning is to follow God, not man

Every Religion in this world has its own point to consider. Theology is one, second is doctrine. If you read and ponder all of their teachings and doctrines, all leads Do's and Don'ts which is contrary to the teaching of the Prophets and apostle of God.
Religion is also Good becasue it comes to the knowledge of a Supreme being. But how do we describe a pure religioin?
Let us see the meaning of pure religioin as the bible describe it. James 1:27 says, "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."
Here are someFeatured religions and what they represents.
1. Atheism - The ideas and story of people who don't believe in God.
2. Baha'i - One of the youngest of the world's major religions.
3. Buddhism - A way of living based on the teachings of Siddartha Gautama.
4. Christianity - The world's biggest faith, based on the teaching of Jesus Christ.
5. Hinduism - A group of faiths rooted in the religious ideas of India.
6. Islam - Revealed in its final form by the Prophet Muhammad.
7. Jainism - An ancient philosophy and ethical teaching that originated in India.
8. Jehovah's Witnesses - A Christian-based evangelistic religious movement.
9. Judaism - Based around the Jewish people's covenant relationship with God.
10. Mormon - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
11. Paganism - Contemporary religions usually based on reverence for nature.
12 Rastafari - A young religion based on Marcus Garvey's philosophies.
13. Shinto - Japanese folk tradition and ritual with no founder or single sacred scripture.
14. Sikhism - The religion founded by Guru Nanak in India in the 15th Century CE.
16. Taoism - An ancient tradition of philosophy and belief rooted in Chinese worldview.
17. Unitarianism - An open-minded and individualistic approach to religion.
18. Zoroastrianism - One of the oldest monotheistic faiths, founded by the prophet Zoroaster.
The truth of the matter is, He who builds this religion reflects his inner being on the religion he builds.
However, as you observed, Jesus christ did not build christianity. He build the church ("On this rock I will build my church"), the door to the kingdom of God. So anyone who is a member of the church which Christ build has both the Son and the Father and this two sap with the believers.
The problem of this world is not as what you think of, it is religion that rebels against God.

The fact is that we do not know well enough what we are, and where we are. There are many questions that we simply do not find any answers of. What we see and experience is frightfully vast, immensely complex but intriguing, awe inspiring and wonderful at the same time. If we consider time we see no beginning or an end. If we try to explore space we find ourselves just like a frog jumping up the walls of a deep well. We are unable to grasp what our mind can reach. We have fears of the unknown; the unexplored and then we have unrealised dreams that form the best in our mind. Even the life we know, we do not understand fully either. It is a bewildering transformation all around: things change, grow and decay in front of our eyes; the unresolved matter of race, culture, politics and land; natural difference, feuds of prestige and conflicts of wealth the world over torture our mind so making us feel sad and dejected about our kind. Now, this is not all caused by religion. I do understand that there are issues with their roots in religious preferences but religion is not to blame for all that goes wrong in this world. What religion gives in return of its issues is invaluable – simple applicable unifying principle for the mind. And this to cope with all the ills that a mind otherwise can attract by just being in this world.
The things I mentioned in the earlier part of the previous paragraph are the things we cannot deal with science or rational thinking alone. We will end up with thousand more questions if we dare to ask just one. We need to realise what in our mind needs to be realised. Religion advises us what we should do for this all-important purpose against what we can do but should not do. It is just a thought but not without its reason that we can destroy ourselves by our own so called progress.
The purpose of life to me the realisation of true human self at all levels of our present existence. And without religious guidance this is almost impossible given the normal human lifespan at our disposal. If you agree with me that we have this spiritual need at the top of the hierarchy of our needs that we need to fulfil. Then we can look to see if we can find an alternative approach to religion. If we agree that we are essential spiritual as well physical then lets suppose one does not necessarily have to be religious in order to be spiritual. And may be we can actually dispense with religion and do very well without it. This is the question I leave open to you.
But my personal opinion upon this matter however is still the same: one needs to realise self fully from physical to spiritual all. May be one can realise himself or herself as a spiritual person any time through certain lifestyle, practices and attitudes. But the world or abstract realities is the world that we do not see with our material eyes and do not hear with our material ears. The insight and the intuition that is required for this can be interrupted very easily by what we see and hear all around us in our material world. The journey is perilous and a person has only so much time as his or her lifespan. Religion provides the sound and secure template for this purpose that is usually followed by many people together. It is usually safe and very time friendly. It is all right if we have some issues due to religious preferences but it is worth it. We will have more without. Besides, people always fight for things that they value most.

world society is based on state run religions why because if there wasn't a god the human race would invent one, why because it can not except that we are like every other creature on this planet we simply live then die, the only difference is that we know we are going to die, so have to invent an after life in order to make our existence mean something

Eternal Spiritual Life in place of the Flesh Life. You are mistaken when you say God causes war, God does not cause war MEN cause war and say it is in the name of God. Ever thought of it that way? God gave us freewill to love Him or reject Him. Do you actually think we are like puppets on a string with God in control? If that were the case you are wrong, or we wouldn't have freewill. And God does not want to see anyone perish, and guess what happens in wars, that's right your catchin' on., we perish.

You sound like an athiest. It's a choice, some people find their peace in God and others find it in idols. We are what we are through our choices. Perhaps religon is what keeps some people going strong in life. But, you are entitled to your opinion. Have you ever been to a church and ask them that question?
