Uhm, I dont really know... I read from someone somewhere in this whole yahoo answers thing say that she heard from a psychic (or whatever u call that) that aliens will be coming here in the near future. That psychic (I think her name's Sylvia Brown)said that these aliens will come to help us. Soo, maybe, just maybe, these aliens can help us in some way (it's not that I believe her, ok?). But still *shivers*, I'm kind of afraid to have them here. Some might have some plans to kill us all humans or something.. lol

Assuming we could get in touch with these forms of alien life and hoping they would be better than us, humans, which should not be too difficult, my answer is, why not?
Anything that might improve us, would be worth our while.
However, I wonder what you consider fictional religions. BECAUSE there is one religion which is not fictional and it is Christianity. And there are 2 others -Islam and Judaism- which are not fictional either, for they also worship the same GOD.
And the problem with these religions are not the religions per se. The problem with them are some of the men that preach them...

When was the last time you saw any Aliens running around, what if they are like the Aliens in the Alien movie. They would stop our fictional life's, that would be cool not.

i believe that aliens are the Niphilim of the Bible. fallen angels. they will come again in the last days which is now and decieve many.
