Yes there is a link! But there are studies that link it with being depressed, and those that link say it is antidepressant.

No, its actually the opposite. A study was done that showed people with mental illness who smoked had less symptoms. Smoking activates the receptors in the brain and the brain produces more dopamine. Dopamine makes a person feel good. Less stressed and improves the mood.

Well why are you smoking? Do you smoke because you are depressed or stressed out? You have to ask that question first. Find out why you think you need to smoke. Smoking is not good for you and it can cause a lot of different things. First of all you know it's not good for your health, the surgeon general warns you of that. Secondly, God is against us doing anything that harms our bodies that he made. So yes I would say smoking could cause depression or you could already be depressed and that's why you smoke. It could go both ways. Consider salvation for your soul, God will take away the cigarettes and the depression if you would repent of your sins and live a saved life pleasing unto God. He loves you and it is his will that none perish but come to the the knowledge of the truth. God is against sin, all sin is of the devil. Pray the prayer of repentance of all your sins God is faithful and he will take away all those negative things in your life and give you everlasting peace that only he can give. The scripture says in Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS for he shall save his people from their sins (not in their sins, from their sins). God bless you!

I found just the opposite. My guy was happy when he smoked. When he stopped he dealt with depression and stress. The nicotine isn't bad it does makes you happy. Its the tar that gets in your lungs what causes all the problems.
I never smoked but I liked the smokers they were the tolerant ones now you hardly see them because they are social lepers in California. So much for toleration of others.
