That's not true at all - if you're good enough to pass they'll pass you, why shouldn't they!? That rumour tends to get passed around by people who have recently failed.

BSM are just a school - they teach you but they don't run the tests. Driving tests are run by the Driving Standards Agency (http://www.dsa.gov.uk/ ), a Government Agency.

An examiner would prefer to pass everyone - their paperwork for a pass is easier than the paperwork for a fail - but if they did, they would have to prove to their superiors that everyone passed on merit.

An examiner cannot fail a candidate for for any reason other than their driving was not up to the standard required to pass.

I've actually heard that rumour aswell. To stop so many people driving on the roads was the reason I think. Maybe this is true and obviously bsm need paying so I guess they would rip people out of there money as would most businesses.

Well BSM are a driving school rather than the actual examiners, so they can't fail anyone.
But I think it's an urban myth that examiners will fail people just to fulfil a quota.

BSM are not responsible for tests, the Driving Standards Agency is.

Not true at all, a friend of mine works as a driving instructor at the Maryland MVA, and they pass people based upon whether or not they really passed the test in Maryland. I don't know which state or country you're from, though, so it may be different there.

I dont know if it counts anymore but some time ago the test centre could only pass so many in a day. They used to say the earliest your test was in the morning the better it would be for you and so for the afternoon. I dont know if this still stands though it seems so unfair when you pay so much for your lessons you expect to be treated better than this when you have paid so much out.
By the way i passed first time and i heard this too.

Its all hearsay but I think its true although no one will admit it. they cant have to many new drivers all hitting the streets at once and also they wont make as much money if they do. or have as much work. they need so many people to do a retest on to get more revenue and workload and to balance the figures as you say.

wrong but thats how its always been. Someone once said it is better if you have your test nearer the beginning of the month as you have a better chance of passing.

BSM only teach they do not control who passes the test which is not performed by BSM staff.

Im not sure about this because my instructor became an examiner and he had a high pass rate and got sacked because he was passing too many first timers.
