I'm 36 and have never met my father. I realized, after the sudden death of my mother, that I needed to get serious about locating him. I don't know where to begin, though.
Could anyone share some tips on successful methods of finding relatives? Any info, please?
Or...does anyone know a Stephen Gwynn Tucker, born in Georgia around 1946-47? He was a systems analyst in the US Air Force stationed at either Offutt AFB in Nebraska or in Lackland AFB in Texas in 1970. He may have had some connection to White Plains NY, or to IBM.
I'd really appreciate any help you could give me! Thanks!

Hey Jil F,
Stephen could be anywhere in the world. But let's make the assumption he stayed in the United States.
Try the White pages for all the US. There are 300 found in the US, they do not let you use middle name, and the white pages use the first initial S. So, narrow the search by selecting NY, and GA assuming he probably favors one of those states. Possibly Nebraska or Texas also. On the front page of White Pages is the Dogpile web site ad, you can try them too.
You can ask at IBM if they employ your father too. You might not get to far with that one, but who knows.
It is likely that he is still alive, but in the off chance (sorry, has to be mentioned) that he may be deceased, you should conslult the Family Search site and SSA.
If you think he might be they type to look for a class reunion, you can try those type sites also. And, there are always Private Investigations, which are quite effective. I recommended the sites below, and some people wrote back to me saying they helped. There is a cost to some of this. But, some is free too.
Best of luck in your search!

Wow I'm so surprise u don't know where to start with all the great information u do have at hand many people don't have anything but a name. Ur search will be a lot easier than most here r a few suggestions mind u I'm not going to do the work for u becuz it would take a consumable amount of time of which u should be charged for. But as a freebie and some help to u here's where I would start.
First look up in the state of GA the Dept. of Vital statistics and try to guess how old he was at ur birth or check ur birth certificate which would list him as ur biological father with his date of birth and his address at ur birth.
Second, check from ur birth certificate what town or city u were born in in GA and look up white pages directory service help for ur dad's name.
Third, check military records at the Veterans Administration Dept. in the last known station he served in or those he served and u can get his exact birth date off ur birth certificate. His social security number might be on ur birth certificate as a plus too, very important. U already mentioned Neb. and TX.
Fourth, call the directory service for White Plains, N.Y. and check to see what if any connection he might have with this city whether he lives there or not. Also call IBM in whatever city u suspect he last worked in and ask them to check their employee records for as far back as they can for ur father.
If all this fails go to peoplesearch.com on the Google website and start from there or do everything I've advised u to do in reverse whatever direction u go in is up to u. Good luck in finding ur long lost father.

I found this. It is a clue. I don't know how you'd follow it up. Someone in the State of SC's human resources department may be willing to forward an e-mail message for you. That would preserve his privacy but let him know you are looking for him. The link is to a discussion of geek stuff in the UK, but the Steven G. who commented sounds like he might be your man.

the guideline regularly is going that hall of acceptance fathers have mediocre sons. Marginal gamers have hall of acceptance sons. Tony Gwynn Jr. would be sturdy yet precise now he's not a high quality starter on a mediocre team.
