It's been two months now that I am staying in one room with a friend infected by ringworm. For the 1st few weeks, I had no idea that he is suffering of ringworm infection until I observed him seems he had. We shared personal items (bedsheets, pillows, towels, etc.). Only now that I had the courage to ask if he has skin infection. He admitted and showed it to me. His back has severe infection by ringworm. Because he could not reach his back to apply ointment, I'm the one doing now. He kept it secret to me, he was ashamed to show it to me when he was applying for ointment. This is the reason why until now, still no improvement, because of no regular medication.
My question is, we are staying in one room for more than 2 mos., had direct body contact with him, shared personal items, what is the probability that I can be infected also.

However, before he share room with me, it's always my habit to take shower before bedtime, and always applying isoprophyl alcohol entire my body right after taking a bath. Can I be infected with ringworm despite of having body contact with him for more than 2 months?

Probability is good. However, ringworm infection is not so bad if you catch it early. Keep a very good eye on your skin. If you see any red marks that weren't there before, apply medication to that spot.
Since your friends infection has gotten out of control, you should check his groin and buttocks area as well. Ringworm likes the warmer areas of the skin.
You can still get ringworm, after two months, if some of your personal items are contaminated with the fungus. Make sure you wash all of your bedding, clothing, and personal items in hot water. This should get rid of any possible fungi.

It's a flesh-eating fungus that can live anywhere or on anything. The chances of becoming infected yourself are growing every moment that the fungus is still alive and active. My advice: medicated creams and ointments take waaaay too long to kill fungus. You need something with a little bit more stopping power. If you're so kind to apply cream, try apple cider vinager "with the mother" (not exactly sure what "with the mother" is but it won't really work without the mother). That's some potent stuff that should complete kill any fungus after 4-5 applications. Apply it once every 12 hours or so and in a couple days the infection should be gone, if not, severly reduced. Another good idea is swabbing the inside of your shoes with the vinegar as well as your tub/shower floor. Also, if you can, bleach your sheets in the wash.
After the infection is gone, keep suceptable areas of your body and clothing/bedding dry. suceptable body parts include but are not limited to; groin, thighs, rump, underarm, feet and toes. As another precaution, take lots of Vitamin B6, B12 and zinc as these will help make your persperation Ph level a little less basic (the condition that the fungus thrives in).
I hope that helps. BTW: apple cider vinegar really stinks. Good luck.

Ringworm is pretty infectious so chances are you will get it too. It's a very common disease and nothing to be ashamed of, as you can pick it up anywhere. It is not caused by lack of personal hygeine. In Australia we call these lesions "School Sores" because if one child in a school gets it then it spreads through the lot. Gentian Violet is a good cure. You just dab it on every day. The only problem with it is that it is bright purple so if you want something less obvious you will need to ask your pharmacist or doctor. Good luck and don't worry, it is quite easy to cure.

Trust me, if you did not touch the cow, you are fine. I have had ringworm (it's not fun). You can only get Ringworm if you make DIRECT CONTACT. Ringworm is not an airborne infection.

Hi there !
You sound like a "perfectionist" ??
But dont worry...
There is a saying which I have found very useful in my way of life.. :"cross the bridge when we come to.."..understood ?
So never ever worry about something which "may" happen ! there are are so many nice things we can do during these times when we un necessarily worry..right ?
If we get the infection, chances for which I feel is rare, apply the ointment "continuously" for 15 days without break, and you are assured of a cure !
Unfortunately, there is no preventive measures you can do in this !
Happy ? relaxed ?
best wishes..
cross the bridge when we come the bridge..right ?
