Afraid, no - I despise them because they slow down progress (ready to burn and kill people who claimed that the Earth was round, and every scientific progress since) and with cold, zombie-like determination harass everyone else to follow their rules, spouting horrible insults and threats. The Bosnian war was started by Christians. Hitler's army was Christian. All those wars were actively encouraged, blessed and supported by the respective churches. So all evidence points that they are fascist-like, genocidal and totalitarian, brain-dead bunch of hypocrites who preach heterosexuality, monogamy and morality, and adhere to not a single of those standards (Mormons are Christians and promote polygamy, in case you felt like arguing; for the rest, check Dumbya and his republicans).

No, why would I be afraid of them? Not personally, anyway.
I am afraid of what religions in general may do to the world if they keep having a go at each other. Destruction of the planet is not an unrealistic fear in this day of advanced weaponry.
So at that level, yes, fanatical christians are dangerous, because like fanatics of ANY sort, fanatical christians threaten the safety of mankind.

People might have many good reasons to be afraid of us. The church has used its power in the past to do some horrid stuff. Crusades, Inquisition, and Witch Trials just name a few. The important thing to see is that all of those, and bad stuff that might have personally been done to you today, was done by people who were using the Bible correctly and misinterpreting it for their own desires. It's easy to have the Bible say many things that you want it to-if you ignore all the other verses that look down on all those sins. To anyone who has been hurt- I say sorry. Remember that God is not a man and though man may have harmed you in His name He will never hurt you.

I'm not afraid of Christians and I actively confront their bigotry.
They defame and vilify me as a gay man and try to block my civil equality.
I don't believe we must respect people's beliefs, frankly they can sometimes be daft... however I do think we should respect peoples right to believe whatever they want so long as their beliefs do not harm others or impinge on other people's rights and freedoms.
Christians have a very bad record for stomping on other people's rights and freedoms and even beliefs and continue to do so without any remorse or repentance.
Christians don't need to approve of gays but discrimination against gays remains a human rights abuse.

When i was 14, the members of the church my sister attended came to my house, when my parents were not around and started taking my stuff and burning them... this included toys that looks remotely evil ( darth vader!), sevral of my ghost story books and a ton of other things... They were smart enough notto touch any of my parents stuff.
They claimed that they were guided by God, as these things contained demons that are possessing us! Gosh... that was really scary
