The Indonesian cuisine is incredibly varied and tasty. I would recommend you to try any Indonesian food, but do not go to the large restaurants and even less in hotel restaurants. The best food - if you are not afraid to do so - is at the thousands and thousands of food stands in the street. Saté (satay = slivers of meat on a bamboo skewers - the saté kambing is the best).
If you do not have a stomach of concrete, stay clear of any fresh fruit that you don't peel yourself and of fresh uncooked vegetables. Everything else - cooked, fried or baked - is OK.
One thing I do recommend is a Padang style restaurant (again, go for the small ones, not the tourist traps). They will place an incredible amount of small dishes with wonderful food on your table, but you pay only what you eat. The rest goes back to the kitchen. Try the "rendang" there. It may be spicy, though.
Enjoy, and let me know how you did.
Selamat Makan (= Bon appetit).

The food is pretty normal. Pyramids, Sphinx, Cairo Museum, Saqqara, and Memphis. Forget the Mosque and the Bazaar. The bazaar is all fake stuff, and is a rip-off. Plus you will get pestered by all the young boys. If you pay to go inside the Great Pyramid, be prepared. It is VERY hot and dark inside. Take a small flashlight and a personal electric fan. No cameras are allowed inside. But it is so cool to go inside! Personally, I would go to Luxor instead of Cairo. Much better things to see there!
