Hi, I am planning to buy a camcorder within a range of $600-$700.?

Can anyone suggest me which brand should I buy? Also please tell me which one will be better MiniDV, DVD or Hard Disk one, with regards to picture quality, transfer to pc and easy editing. (I have never owned a camcorder before.)
