the most ridiculous conspiracy theory I ever heard was that the railroad was a government conspiracy to stop witches from using their powers by lacing the earth with iron

Freemasonry has been connected to so many conspiracy theories its hard to keep track of them all. Many of the men who worked to free the U.S. from English rule were indeed Freemasons and after having looked up the definitions of Deism in Wikipedia its llikely that they may have agreed with many of the Deist philosophies.
