Well, the truth is, that there are none. Innocence can be an act, and blushing and giggling simply show that the girl knows what's supposedly forbidden. If she were totally innocent, she wouldn't know enough to blush or giggle!

Are you a virgin? If you feel it's necessary for a woman in whom you're interested to be one as well, tactfully ask her. Sometimes the easiest route is the direct one.

Agree with some answers above that a girl's hymen can be torn by vigorous exercise etc, accidentally. She is still a virgin by definition as long as she has never had a penis penetrating her vagina before.

However, with medical advancement, a girl who has experienced sexual intercourse before can "hide it' by going for a "hymen transplant or restoration".

So how can you tell ?

You can't.

Only the girl who tells you the truth about whether she has had sex before.

But then again, how do you know she is telling you the truth ?

You can only go by trust. It's up to you to get to know her well enough to know if she is telling you the truth about her virginity.

Shyness. Innocenct acting.. um there really is no way to tell until you ask and if the hymen isn't broken. Young girls and boys can be interested in sex whether a virgin or not. which is perfectly normal
