The Bible is not a science Book. What mistakes in it have scientists proved? Nothing. When the Bible touches on science it is very accurate. For example:
How is the earth is held in space? In ancient times when the Bible was being written, there was much speculation about how the earth was held in space. Some believed that the earth was supported by four elephants standing on a big sea turtle. Aristotle, a Greek philosopher and scientist of the fourth century B.C.E., taught that the earth could never hang in empty space. Instead, he taught that the heavenly bodies were fixed to the surface of solid, transparent spheres, with each sphere nested within another sphere. Supposedly the earth was on the innermost sphere, and the outermost sphere held the stars.
Yet, rather than reflect the fanciful, unscientific views existing at the time of its writing, the Bible simply stated (in about the year 1473 B.C.E.): "[God is] hanging the earth upon nothing." (Job 26:7) In the original Hebrew, the word for "nothing" used here means "not any thing," and this is the only time it occurs in the Bible. The picture it presents of an earth surrounded by empty space is recognized by scholars as a remarkable vision for its time. The Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament says: "Job 26:7 strikingly pictures the then-known world as suspended in space, thereby anticipating future scientific discovery."
The Bible's accurate statement predated Aristotle by over 1,100 years. Yet, Aristotle's views continued to be taught as fact for some 2,000 years after his death! Finally, in 1687 C.E., Sir Isaac Newton published his findings that the earth was held in space in relation to other heavenly objects by mutual attraction, that is, gravity. But that was close to 3,200 years after the Bible had stated with elegant simplicity that the earth is hanging "upon nothing."
The more people try to prove the Bible wrong, the more foolish they look.

Coz there is no WORD of god.
Both the Quran and teh Bible were written by men , dont you understand . Both the books are wrong. Jesus was a great man i agree , but he wasnt son of God or anything. He was just a very wise man. And Muhammed was no God either. He was a saint with good views , thats all. STOP over-rating these people.
Be an aethist. Now that explains everything.
And cbooth151. According to you the bible was written at 1100 BC was it ? Are you mad or what? what does BC stand for man.
And plz , stop saying there are no mistakes. The bible and Quran are full of completely impossible things. There is no GOD . There are only scientific principles.

The Bible is the word of ancient ignorant men pretending to be God. These idiots didn't know that two of all living things on this earth weighs about 100 million tons. The story of Noah & the Arc is not the word of any god but the word of men who didn't know that they were wrong. The day will come when scientists prove that there are intelligent civilizations on other planets. The religions can never prove that there is some man living in a cloud.

All the so-called "Abrahamic" (christianism, islam and judaism) religions have been influenced by miths, legends and deities that were present in anterior cultures. For example the flood mith was "imported" from Babylonians (see http://www.stanford.edu/~meehan/donnelly/3000bc.html#52
).
So the answer could be actually very simple: there are so many mistakes because the Bible, like the Epic of Gilgames, it is just a legend, combining true facts with miths that were passed from mouth to mouth and from generation to generation.
Now I see your Quran mention. My opinion is that Quran is no more good or bad compared with the Bible. They have indeed a good historical value and they are sometimes good as sets of ethic codes to apply (defining good and bad) - but this is all. They are just legends (or, sometimes they are means to control the masses of people).

A man rode to heaven on a winged horse? This sounds scientific to you? This is no different than the Buy-bull's claim that a man lived in a whale's stomach for three days. Neither book holds up to any amount of scientific inquiry. The Quran is not quite as absurd as the Buy-bull, but the reason is because it was written so long after the buy-bull when people were just a bit more advanced in their knowledge.

God does not make mistakes, he has pre-ordained everything that happens in the world, and you are highly mistaken by beleiving in the false doctrine of the kuran or whatever you want to call this fictisious book that so many haters of the world call this piece of junk.

If you confuse people, they think you are smarter than them because they can't work it out, that's how the bible works.
Why else would Christians say that 'Do not discredit the word of God, only He can understand the meaning of existence!" - They are just too stupid to realise that there is no truth to their religion.
You can not get any sense out of them, only jibberish. you only have to look at the people who have answered your post to know this!
