If you get the hartz cat flee shampoo it will be fine. I bought the cats flea shampoo by hartz and my cats fought me (of course) but when i put the shampoo on them they loved it, rinsing them was the hard part. afterwards they were very refreshed and a lot calmer, also smelt good. If you are thinking of using the dog flea shampoo, don't. There are a few different chemicles in dog flea shampoo because each has a different kind of flea. believe it or not there are canine and feline fleas. The chemicles in dog shampoos will poison cats...

I have heard a lot of negative things about Hartz products, and there's even a website devoted to "Hartz Victims." My aunt used the shampoo on two of our kittens when we first got them (a year and a half ago), and they're fine. They showed no negative symptoms. So, I don't know. I would just tell you to go with Frontline. It's safe and reliable.

Hartz flea (and deworming) products are very dangerous to cats (as are other OTC products). It can cause neurological problems, seizures and death. There is a lot of info out there concerning the dangers. Most vets can tell you first hand as they see many dogs & cats who have had issues with these products as well as many who have died.

always take advice from your veterinary staff they are the professionals and if they say don't use it there usually a reason.
if the shampoo is not formulated for cats or prescription medication from the vet, the cat can be at risk from being poisoned which could result in death.
cats hate water so he shampoo is prob formulated for dogs which are too strong for cats.
cats are easily poisoned!!!!!!

a veterinary licensed flea product especially for cats are very good such as frontline spot on or frontline combo spot on.

i dont like those fle shampoos. If you notice, they make your hands feel numb and hot when you touch them, imagine how you cat or dog would feel having that all over their body!
i suggest just giving them the flea treatment from the vet, the pill or application. And just bathe them with regular non toxic pet shampoo!

The best thing to bathe a kitten/cat in that doesn't have harsh chemicals, is citrus scent Dawn dish liquid.
Bugs HATE citrus, and Dawn is mild enough that it wont irritate the cat's skin.
