Exactly. If that deity gets to be an exception to the rule, why can't there be other exceptions?

My exact sentiment ..goes right along with before the big bang as the cycle of eternity in scientific terms E=mc2 matter and energy can neither be created not destroyed only converted from one to the other. Einsteins opened my eyes. And the big bang will happen again if the black holes go as some think eventually although the probabilities may turn out a little different ...Don't
see much of a case for the god part though it's a lot like saying quick draw McGraw or the spaghetti monster was responsible.
peaceout and keep pondering

This was another one of those questions that always puzzled me about Christianity until I realized that I couldn't look at God from a Christian point-of-view. When I looked at that question from a different standpoint - the always was, is, and shall ever be made perfect sense.
After all - matter cannot be created or destroyed - it can only change form. Of course this leads to the question - where did matter come from. If you think on that too long it can give you a headache. Or at least that's how I feel. But then I'm not a physicist. I wonder if this question plagues Stephen Hawking. Maybe he knows the answer...

God is a spirit. Matter on the other hand is His creation. God exist in eternity. Eternity is not matter.
The earth and the universe is made up of matter and came to existence when God CREATED it.
So, to answer you question, no. Physical matter was created, and thus has a beginning.
No words or phrases can contain any description of who or what God really is. The closest about his existence is, "I AM", or causes to become, or to be, etc.
Wanna go nuts? Try to figure out how He has no beginning or no end.

God is not matter. God is spirit. A better question is could the universe(which is matter) have always existed? The big bang says no. If the universe had a beginning then the law of cause and effect says it needs a cause. What caused the universe? There's only one possibility. God.

If you had only done that once, I would say it's a typo, but you are a moron.
Sure, I guess anything is possible. God always exsisted, and the matter that makes everything up also exsisted.
Whatever that means.

See, this is one thing the evolutionists fail to mention. Where did all the matter that makes up the universe come from? And if there was a big bang, What went bang and where did it come from? Could you imagine the size of the object that must have exploded? I mean you could not measure the size of the object that all of the matter in the universe would create if you brought it all together.

I think it is possible that the energy that matter came from always existed. If God is pure energy and He created the universe He would have done it from energy. I guess He could have brought it out of the nothingness. But I think he used the energy that was in His mind. God is spirit, mind, energy.
Just some random thoughts. Too late for me to try to give a deep answer, got to go to sleep now.

Matter did not always existed, all the physical world of today
was created from the words of God,
In the biginning when God opened his mouth, his son came out of him, He is The Word.
According to Vedas that word is 'Om',
and through that word, and in him(The Word) everything was created.
In Bavisya Purana(Hindu Purana), Once a saint visited Himalayas,Where he sees a tall man, pink skinned.
The saint asks the man '' Who are you'',
answer from the man is
I am the son of God , Born to virgin.

It is the potential you refer to. The potential for matter always exists because God and all God creates including His beloved (us) always exists. We are capable of creating worlds, and we do; this world is only images we make in our mind ("we" are one Self, God's Son).
Quite literally, the matter doesn't matter. It is the power. It is the Love that matters.
