Sue,
The Modesto area surrounding Davis Community Park would be great for you to live in. Moving out of State will cost yo up to $15,000, so maybe staying in town would be more helpful. It is close to the following Opthalmologists, Shopping Malls, Grocery Stores, Libraries, and Colleges. The area along Hwy 99, or bounded by Tully Road, W. Biddsmore Ave, McHenry Ave, and Standiford/Sylvan Ave. is great for busing, and walking to all of these places. Good Luck.

Sue Honey: Your going Blind and I'm going to be in a Wheel chair, well we've both got problems. You sound like you got your problems solved. Go to Santa Fe, I've been through there and Was there for several days, it's nice. The weather is fair. I think you'll like it.
If the consular is fair with you, that's great, maybe it's a new start, something we all need sometime. go for it. Good luck.

I would think a smaller town, that has public transportation available to the disabled and elderly, would be a good choice. Or a city with defined neighborhoods and community centers, also with public transportation.
Continue to do you homework, and don't hesitate to move if that seems to be the appropriate thing to do to take care of yourself and get the assistance you need.
Best of luck to you
