I'm not sure what you mean...Democrats can be Christians too.

Anyway, as a Christian, I believe that religion should be kept out of govenment. Why? Because I don't want a Muslim president or Congress (or any other religous persuasion) outlawing my religion.

God grants choice, and so should the government.

The United States did not "kick out" religion from government. Our Bill of Rights is simply an affirmation of the concept that there are areas of human rights in which no government should have control. The founders of our country were reacting to what they thought of as overreaching governance. In fact, they assumed good, religious men would be needed to govern, but wanted to ensure liberty by limiting governmental authority. On a practical level, this avoided sectarian difficulties among the various new states at the time of our founding.

One answer: Because it would be more sane. Another, it's a free country, meaning that people are free to choose their religion which meant that if religion ruled the laws of the government, though it might still but I'm not a political sciences major and wouldn't know, then one religion would dominate over all others and force "unbelievers" to convert. This would go against the rights of the people to freely believe in their religion. And practise it, I think.

because America is supposed to be a melting pot of all cultures--enforcing one religion would be impinging on the rights of over half its citizens
