The answer is simple. Many monotheists consider religious tolerance good and well, provided it doesn't go too far. They'll tolerate Jews (at least after 1950 they started to), and now even Catholics and Protestants seem to get along.
What they expect is religious symbolism everywhere -- currency, courts, and the pledge. But if you DARE to question their beliefs, even while they assault yours, they label you as intolerant. They love "In God We Trust", but certainly balk at the idea of "Zeus is Lord" or "Darwin Loves you".
It's part of the mind game. They pretend the United States is a Christian country, while ignoring that most of its founders were deists and Jefferson described Christianity as perverted. They demand religious freedom, but to them religious freedom means government funding for "faith-based" programs. They condemn communist Russia as atheist, but ignore the overwhelmingly atheist Europe.
"If fascism ever comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross." - Upton Sinclair

It seems that people with strong religious beliefs are intolerant of anyone who does not believe as they do.
Catholics and Protestants kill each other in Northern Ireland, Sunni and Shiite Muslims kill each other in Iraq, a christian sect in America protests at American soldiers funerals.
And the list goes on and on.
Maybe it's religion, I'm an atheist and I don't hate anyone.

Monotheistic. 1000's of years in the past, it substitute into decreed heresy to disbelieve Jesus is God. he's named the Son because of the fact He had a human beginning to come back to earth to stay as particularly God and somewhat guy on the comparable time. a brilliant style of those questions have been asked and spoke back and clarified to the severe interior the history of the Church. you've appeared this up particularly...

Muslims and fundamentalist Christians believe God is on their side. They know what God's opinion is on everything. Plus, even when they're not perfect, God forgives them. They just have that special relationship with the big guy. Why on earth should they feel the need to be respectful to mere mortals, who don't even have the correct religious beliefs? Just repeat to yourself, "It's not me they hate, it's just my sinful nature that they hate."

Hey Puck, welcome to Yahoo Answers! Now you get to pick who agrees with you the best. Its not beligerance, if there is an attempt to educate the questioner. One needs a proper perspective on what is going on here; will you tell the asker what they want to hear, or the truth? Herein lies the truth of Yahoo Answers success. Ohh,I used the word 'lies' to compliment the word 'truth'.
