Radon gas is used for in Radiation therapy for certain cancers and though this chemical causes lung cancer the radiologist take full care of the patients and others to get protected from this gas affecting them. Lung cancer is possible by this case if inhaled from other sources. Read about Radon Gas and its effect.
Radon is a chemical element in the periodic table that has the symbol Rn and atomic number 86. A radioactive noble gas that is formed by the disintegration of radium, radon is one of the heaviest gases and is considered to be a health hazard. The most stable isotope is 222Rn which has a half-life of 3.8 days and is used in radiotherapy. Radon gas can accumulate in buildings, and drinking water, and cause lung cancer, causing potentially 20,000 deaths in the European Union each year. Radon is a significant contaminant that impacts indoor air quality worldwide-.

Radon gas is only one possible cause for lung cancer.
The difference between radon gas (natural, uncontrolled) and radiotherapy (man made, controlled):
1. Radon gas is an oderless, natural result of decaying radium and uranium occuring uncontrolled in the environment.
2. Radiotherapy is man made, harnesses the radon and controls the substance by delivering it to isolated spots on the body in hopes of effecting a cure.
So, your statement needs to be flipped around . . the cause of some types of lung cancer caused by uncontrolled natural radon gases can in a changed form (controlled radiothreapy) be used to try and cure that cancer.

Breathing in radon gas causes lung cancer, but radiotherapy does not involve breathing in gases. Instead, radiation is precisely targeted at the cancerous area, hopefully killing the cancer cells while sparing the nearby healthy tissue.

You are confusing the elements, radium and radon and radon has no place in medicine and we seldom even used radium now. They are both radioactive but one is gaseous and the other is a metal. We used to use radium needles to implant in a tumor but as chemotherapy improved, we use it only in special cases, Check your periodic table and you will find vast differences in the two elements.

Not really. Radiation can cause cancer, but it is also an accepted treatment for killing cancers. Radon is only one of several radioisotopes that are used for radiation therapy; cobalt-60 is another.

The important , is That cancer cells are more sensitive than normal. Unfortunately until now, it was not found a treatment which attacks only cancer cells
