my cousin (who is old enough to decide her own religion) has taken a page from my book (or my spell book) and has asked me to help her with wicca, she was looking at the different pantheons seeking a pantheon of her own (I told her to listen and a god/dess will call to her) and she found "The Morrigan and Arawn" but this God and Goddess are not from the same thing, although they are both celtic. should i help her try and find something else even though she says they called to her? is it ok for her to work with these two deities? being that one is welsh and the other irish?

i ask because they are both celtic but the welsh, irish thing kinda makes me scared because i was warned about mixing the gods :)

Please help me.

lots of wiccans mix pantheons--there's nothing wrong with it and I highly reccomend it as not all deities that speak to you are going to be from a specific pantheon, and it makes for a more personalized spiritual journey

Most of my deities are Gaulish. But I like Welsh mythology, and one of my deities is Irish (Lugh). I'm okay with that---but I have learned/learning about all three cultures. Besides, no one said that your cousin could only have two deities. If she decides to only honor those two, I don't know how it would work if she ever wanted to do a ritual of her deities joining together---each of these deities have other mates/love interests. For example, at Samhain, the Morrigan traditionally is seen to mate with the Dagda.

For a very lengthy and in depth thesis about the Morrigan:

(It's the eighth one down)

My favorite book on Welsh mythology is "The Mabinogi and Other Medieval Welsh Tales" by Patrick Ford. I also liked "The Mabinogion" translated by Jeffrey Gantz.

I don't really think this sort of thing is the end of the world. As you recognize, your cousin is old enough to do her own spiritual discernment and she has relied upon the gods for a call. I don't know that the Morrigan is a great pair with any particular god (as she has always been quite an independent figure), but my tendency would be to have faith that your cousin will figure out for herself why those two powers reached out to her.

many wiccans i know call upon hindu deities. kali and shiva are particularly popular; also the chinese kuan yin. i don't know enough about shinto to comment on whether those gods would consider it an affront, but most polytheistic traditions are extremely tolerant. wicca doesn't have a specific god and goddess, so a wide variety of beliefs about the divine are possible, including eastern traditions. i'm not specifically wiccan, but my patron has acknowledged that he is compatible with other gods. i believe that you should adopt the gods and ritual practice that work best for you. the gods aren't really concerned about the details, but about the sincerity of your efforts.

If she is old enough to make the decision to change religions, you should allow her to navigate through this on her own. Please do, though, encourage her always to seek the guidance of the God/Goddess (or whomever she chooses to worship) in all things and to meditate at length before committing to ANY serious decision, such as this.

Love and Blessings to you both.

My suggestion is get out of that Satanic religion is is only going to drag you down. If you want to get into anything then get into a good bible based church where they love and serve Jesus. Wicca is evil and it is Satan inspired. There is only one God and he is the creator of everything. You are breaking one of the commadments of you shall have no idols before me. If you worship anything else other than God in Heaven you are defiling yourself and it is an abomination to God. Jesus died on that cross for your sins, so that whoever belives in him and trusts him and repents and turns from their wicked ways will be saved. Please consider Jesus, as the only way to keep you out of Hell is through him only. If you keep going they way you are going then I am afraid you and your cousin will one day find yourselfs in Hell with all of the other dammed. Satan is a defeted foe do not let him run your life. Spells are of the devil. Jesus himself said, that no murders, liers. anybody who practices magic art(like you) any idoleters, anybody who loves and practices faulsehood, any adulters will not inherit the kingdom of God. Remember what you are doing will land you in Hell and there you will have to put up with pearcing screams and the heat where there will not be any water. and the stench of the place which will made you vomit, and all thoes nasty demons will be there to taunt you. I know of somebody who went to Hell and wrote a book on it and travelled the world telling his testomony and it has saved thousands of souls from Hell. The book is called "23 minutes in Hell" by Bill Weise. Turn to Jesus ask him into your heart and repent for what you are doing, and turn away from Satan as he hates your guts and he wants to see you burn in Hell like multitudes are right now. Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy, remember that.
