I know a lady and her child who are in distress. Let me allow to describe the full scenario.

The lady, about 44 yrs of age is a bit mentally disbalanced from 1984. She got married in 2000 and the same year her husband died in an accident. The following year she got a male child. Their family comprises of the lady, her 5yrs old child and the lady's old mother who is around 82 yrs of age.

The lady's son is quite normal. Now the biggest problem is that there is no one to take care of the lady and espicialy her son.

As long as the lady's mother is alive the family will survive. But now as she has become too old it has become an worry for us.I would like to add that the lady and her son knows to speak Bengali only.

Is it possible to help them by sending them in a home where they will get care and affection? If yes let me know the formalities. And if possible can you send me some conacts to help them out.

Looking for your advice

Try your local Dept. of Health and Human Services. They can guide you in the right direction. Best of luck to you. You are a wonderful person for caring.

You haven't really alid out the full scenario at all. For a start, which country are these people residing in. Does that country have any social security system? Are you talking about a full immigration scheme and where did you have in mind?

Can the lady work? That way she could take care of herself and her son. Maybe she can immigrate somewhere as a housekeeper nanny and take her son with her when her mother is no longer with her. If she sees this as a possiblity it might pay to invest in learning at least the miminum of some other language, such as English to increase her chances of getting a position.

Is there a community center in her area or perhaps there is an organization in her town that provides an interrupter for her whom could help connect to resources in her community that could help her with her situation. Here where I live we have a place called Casa Latina they have social workers that provide interrupters for people who are limited in their english, weather it is spanish, french, dutch, etc. they have someone who can help.

I agree with the person who said to contact a church organization. They will be able to offer help even if it is only to tell you what your next steps should be, and this probably applies no matter where you are.
