It's not the words you speak, but the intention of the words. (You can say "awww sheeee-it", in jest, and humor is intended and it's okay ... but if you say, "you piece of sh*t!!!!" that's expressing hositility and it's not okay.)

Are you expressing hatred or hostility with your words, or merely using common words to express something non-violent or without hatred. Therein lies your answer.

Profanity
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.Look up Profanity in
Wiktionary, the free dictionary.A profanity (or swear words, or curse word, or foul language, or dirty word) under current colloquial use is a word, expression, gesture, or other usage which is generally considered insulting, rude or vulgar. The extent to which a profanity is considered to be in some way disagreeable or objectionable depends on context, timing and various other factors. However, the use of certain profanities at certain times, especially in a public setting or during a solemn occasion, may always be considered inappropriate or in bad taste, if not outright abusive, obscene or offensive. At other times the use of certain profanities will be considered mild or acceptable, and may take less recognizable forms, such as a minced oath.

The original meaning of the term was restricted to blasphemy, sacrilege or speaking God's name in vain. Profanity represented a secular indifference to religion or religious figures, while blasphemy was a more offensive attack on religion and religious figures. However, the term has been extended to include expressions with scatological, sexist, derogatory, racist, or sexual themes. Compare the concept of the four-letter word. The more vague and inclusive interpretation blurs the distinction between categories of offensive words (see Cursing in America by Timothy Jay).

I believe your words can be a blessing or it can be a curse. Be careful with what you say. I am a Christian, and if you are interested in doing only that which is pleasing in the eyes of God, I have some important websites that I would like to share with you:

Interesting. I just thought about this topic, and here you go. I actually think the point behind your question is a bit valid.

The words you say are a collection of sounds and mean nothing; it's your intent that counts. If you feel throwing in all the four letters words aren't worsening your feelings towards whatever in the first place, go ahead, if you can stand a few disapproving looks.

Also if you're using the replacement words anyway (darn, freakin, porker, crap, etc) again there's no true reason not to use the real ones; most everyone worth saying that to knows what it standing for and any changes made are painfully superficial. To really not curse you have to take out all the safe words too, and while you at it, don't speak when angry at all, because the same amount malice/ill content/satan's work can always be legally spoken with dictionary words.

There isn't any reason why you can't be profane. That is your choice to be so.

I am not sure what the issue is, but if you feel it has to be justified by the answerers here, I can just say I don't care if you are profane or not.

Good luck!

Because (with few exceptions) there is a way to express what you want to say that is more descriptive than profanity. Some people aren't gifted enough to find the right words so they do better with profanity.

Other people just can't stand to listen to the profanity. Try not to undermine their weakness's.

It's not really sociably acceptable, maybe there are young people that should not see and hear such things. Colossians 5:8 But now really put them all away from you, wrath, anger, badness, abusive speech, and obscene talk out of your mouth.

How about the fact that God will judge "every idle word" that we speak? That would be enough for me! I wouldn't want to have to stand before Him on Judgment Day and try to explain all THOSE idle words!
