Perspective is good, usually.
If you pay too high a price, maybe it's because you refused to see it any other way in the first place.
Good and evil are diseases of mind. Unlearning is infinitely better than thinking you know.

Sounds to me like you don't need the question answered, just validated. Knowledge is never wrong, religious or otherwise. If you are a reader of the Old Testament, and believe that all things are perpetuated as a part of God's plan, then Adam was SUPPOSED to eat of that tree, thus, gaining Knowledge. Anyway, it is ignorance that causes us to discriminate against other religions anyway. Knowledge of God in all His incarnations is what true love of God is about. He doesn't care how you come by it, just so that you do.

real information is understanding that all of us comprehend not something. Exemplified interior advances in technology, astrology, drugs, and so on. there have been situations after we "knew" the Earth became flat. Even Sir Isaac Newton "proved" meteors ought to not exist, yet now... information isn't subjective, as said with the help of your definition of idea @ nameless. information is stone chilly fact, irrefutable, we do not have one unmarried merchandise accessible to us that meets this criteria interior all given Philosophical, Mathematical, Astrological, actual, psychological, Empirical, historic, and so on, criteria .There are proofs that practice that something so straightforward as a million+a million does not equivalent 2. Descartes Vs Hume , Cogito, ergo sum (i imagine, hence, i'm), vs precis information of the exterior international. not something, in any respect, is arguably "fact", and inspite of proofs, ought to genuinely be disproved later in time. appears like Socrates turned right into a touch out of your league (@nameless), yet 2 ladies, one cup, good up your alley (howdy, the cup became empty earlier filled, good).

Socrates was correct: The Abrahamic religions in particular seem to actively encourage ignorance of other beliefs and ideas as a virtue, labeling it "faith". It is such ignorance that inspires fear, hatred, and war over such nonsense as dogma and traditions.

In his Apology, Socrates does state that the unexamined life is not worth living. Apply this to religion and you have your answer.

With the possible exception of how to build nuclear bombs or make meth in your toliet bowl at home - I can't think of any possible good that can come from ignorance. In fact, I can only think of bad things that can come from one group of people not knowing about another group of people.
That Socrates sure knew his $h1t

that socrates. he invented the sound bite. he was over-simplifying but yes it makes good sense to learn about things and religion is a very important topic that we should all study and not just one religion but all religions to get perspective.

To learn about other people, is to love humanity, to study nature, is to love God, knowledge is to light, as a sinner is to darkness.
