Oh! Poor you! :-/
That happened to me a few weeks ago - my cat must've gotten out when the pizza guy came, and I only realized he was missing a few hours later (bed time) - I spent an hour outside calling him and shaking his treats, but it didn't do any good, and I went to bed sobbing, and woke up a half dozen times during the night and went outside to check for him .... and he wasn't there...
I left a bowl of food and his little tent on my deck (it was chilly that night), and in the morning when I finally got up (maybe an hour or so after the last time I'd gone out to look for him) he was waiting on a chair, squeaked at me, and ran inside, ate heartily and except for a tick, he was fine.
Cats are good at finding their way home - they have an excellent sense of smell, and they KNOW who's handing out the food.
I've had other cats dissapear before, and the best thing I think you can do is put food outside for them (and call them while you're at it, make a lot of food-noise - shake around treats, tap a can of food with a fork, ect...), and look for them around the time you wake up or come home from work - they have an AMAZING sense of timing too.

Yes the cat probably got outside unfortunately and hopefully she'll find her way home but its not guaranteed. With Cali, u should take her outside on the porch and let her roam so she can get a sense of where she lives if she happens to get outside one day. Trust me the cat is going to run from u cuz the cat is too cautious of something new and sooo big.

Well rest assured alot of cats can pretty much find their way home. In face this may not be here first time out of the house! So perhaps she has pulled this stunt before. Depending on how long you have had this cat chances are she has a rather wonderful memory and will find her way back to you house. Once when we were little we had a cat named Jinx. Well Jinx made it a habit of constantly running away all the time. Jinx always made it back home safely and suddenly we would her scratching at the door... and there he was..just waiting for us! Good luck and i will pray your cat returns safely!

Ifyour catreally got out inthe great outdoors, she is "investigating" - having a great time sniffing and pawing plants and things. I am certain that your cat KNOWS where her home is and has not gone very far. Expect her to be out there for several hours but eventually, she will come home when she gets HUNGRY. You can try to hurry up the cat by taking a can of smelly cat food and a can opener and a spoon. Open it outside, then "ding-ding-ding" the can with the spoon, calling for your kitty all the time. This almost ALWAYS works with my 2 kitties whenever they escape. IF there is nothing else out there more interesting than food.
Unless someone has stolen your cat, your cat will eventually come home. Meanwhile, chin up and don't panic - your cat can sense your mood.

here is a trick that has worked for me...
take a CAN of cat food (any tin can will do, but preferable catfood and have the can open)
Take a spoon,
Go outside and tap the spoon LOUDLY against the can and call for your cat . Hit the can with the spoon ALOT and fast.
This should send the cat running to you because they think they will be getting some treat. Also, by having hte can open the smell of the cat food can drift thru the air and the cat can smell it and it will lead it back to the house.
Hang in there...my cat was gone for two days last week But he returend!!

First, don't panic. Just because you haven't seen the cat all day doesn't mean she's gotten out. Maybe she isn't feeling well. Cat's will often hide when they are ill. Make sure you check your home thoroughly.
Why do you think she could have gotten out? Have you had strangers in the house (cable guy, plumber, carpenter, whatever)? Are there others living in your house that don't know she is suppose to stay inside?

Cats have an amazing sense of direction so she will be able to find her way home if she chooses too. Don't worry about that. Obviously they do have accidents from time to time, get into vehicles and that sort of thing, and sometimes they just move. But 1 day isn't long, don't fret I'm sure she'll be back

Ask neighbors, and especially the kids in the neighborhood. Put up signs with description of the cat and your telephone number. Maybe someone will do the right thing. I lost a Siamese, but never found her, with an ad in the paper, signs all over the neighborhood and ads in the newspapers. God I Miss Her!

I'm so sorry i recently lost a dog she ran away about 3 months ago. cats are a lot better about finding their way home. i have a cat and i let her outside everyday and she always comes back. i would just go out looking for her and if you still cant find her just call for her out the door every 30 minutes or so. if she did get confused and got lost your voice can guide her back. they usually don't go far
