So here is the deal. I like a girl from school and she is 15. The thing is I am two grades below her. -No I did not fail- Would it be wrong for us to date?.. And so I have told her "I love you" many of times, but she says we can only be friends. Would it have something to due with the fact I am a year younger and two grades below her?

Thanks for the answer people, thought I would add a few details. She does IN FACT like another guy her age. Yet she leads me on alot. We flirt alot, when ever we walk by each other we brush sholders, when we sit by each other our bodies touch. One of my favorite things we do is play a little game called "Boob tag". We used to stay up half the night talking on Instant Messanger until one day I asked if she liked someone -Hopping it would be me-. Indeed she did, but it wasn't me she liked. So we don't talk to much on IM anymore, but she still smiles at me, wants me to wait on her, still plays "boob tag". If you don't like me please don't lead me on. Anyways, what should I do now?

It may be. If anything it's more the grade thing that the age thing. Just remember her when you both get out of school maybe things can work out then. Also, if she keeps saying we can only be friends, she means it, so let it go before it comes back and hurts you by a rumor going around that you are crazy or something. Obviously your not, but come on you're in school and you know as well as anyone else how crap gets started and will haunt you for along time. Just respect her wishes for now.

Maybe she thinks you're not mature enough, or maybe she's pressured by her friends to go out with someone her age or even older (many girls want to act all grown up, so they think if they go out with an older guy, then they are like him, all coool and grown up). It could also be that she actually just doesn't like you this way, so she just wants to be friends. The best way to find out is to ask her why she thinks you should be just friends. Does she think its not going to work out (and why) or does she just not like you that way? Since you've been very open with her and were not afraid to say "I love you", then you should have no problem asking her why she says you should just be friends. Let her tell you and stop wondering.
Good luck, my friend.

The boyfriend would have to still be in high school, or at least someone they went to school with. the most important thing would be that I know them somewhat and that they follow the rules designated to date my daughter (respect curfew etc.) Yes and No. Most parents don't trust their kids, and there is nothing wrong with that kids make dumb decisions and it is the parents job to help them in their decision making process. However they definately do not trust "everybody else in the world" again it is their job to help their children negotiate the world. The majority of pop and hip hop music discuss topics that in my opinion is too mature for children (sex, violence etc.), however I listened to rock music as a kid and it had the same message actually more focused on sex.

Hmm.. sounds a little weird to me but then again I like a guy who is two grades lower then me so really there isn't anything wrong with it but she shouldn't be leading you on if she doesn't like you. Talk with her and see what she says and make sure she is telling the truth.

okay man. you have to ask her if she's saying that because of the grade thing. because if not they it's not really much you can do, maybe she likes another guy, or maybe there's something about you...it's love. it doesn't matter the age if it's just THAT tiny of a difference.

Well to be honest, the age difference isn't too bad. But c'mon, your 14... way too young to be throwing the " i love you" around. thats going to make her either 1. cling to you or 2.shy away from you..

Yes, probably is the grade thing. She might think her classmates will razz her. It's strange, because when you guys are older, this small gap won't matter one darn bit.
