I have had the best luck with crate training. Make them sleep in the crate all night and then take him outside early in the morning to go potty. Dogs won't go potty where they sleep.

I have an abused 7 month old puppy that had no training whatsoever right now. I got him 2 weeks ago and he's coming along quite well. What I find works is to take him out every 2 hours and watch him. When he does his business outside....praise him!! Let him know you are happy with him because all he wants to do is please you! If you catch him doing something bad, let him know immediately!! Believe me, he knows if you are scolding him for his wrongs. But, just praise him when he does the right things....dogs love that! My dog still has his accidents, but, thats okay, he's still a puppy. And I also heard that dogs will not got where they sleep......not true! I have a 2 year old rottie x that was supposedly crate trained and twice this summer she crapped in her crate! I was not impressed! Also, when my pup got shipped to me, he also peed in his crate.....but, then again, I don't know when he was allowed to go to the bathroom last. Anyway, hope this helped you. Just keep praising him when he does the right thing and scold him with a firm NO, when he's wrong. My pup has no manners whatsoever, like licking your dishes on the table, jumping to the counter, sniffing the trash.....but, then again, its the firm NO! Let him know whats right and whats wrong. Don't forget puppies are puppies! Good luck!

First secure your trash, he's an animal and all he knows is ummmm smells like food. There is also the smell factor. Dogs protect themselves from predators by rolling around in smelly stuff to hide their scent, it is instinctual. Second it takes time to housebreak a puppy, but keep trying to teach him, he'll learn eventually. Thirdly even after he is housebroken he will have the occasional accident, when you have to go and no ones around to let you outside. It's all part of being a dog owner. Bottom line don't worry about it. Training a puppy is repetition, repetition reposition. He will learn. Just do as the training book says on how to house-train a dog, it does work. I bet it takes less than two weeks. There are a lot of books in the store and in the library that tell you who to housebreak a dog. But remember he is a puppy and it will take time and patience

Crate train him. He'll thank you and you'll have peace of mind.

Google "crate training" , there's loads of info out there. It's a very popular form of potty training.

DO NOT EVER RUB YOUR DOG'S NOSE IN IT'S MESS! It teaches them only to fear you, not to be more obedient. Also, please remember dogs live in the NOW, meaning if they made a mess 2 minutes ago, and you find it now, they cannot remember what is making you so mad. They cannot put 2 and 2 together. When your dog has an accident, shout NO! and scoop them up and take them outside. You have to catch them IN the act in order to administer the correction.

Remember, if you can't keep eyes on your dog, it should be crated until fully potty trained.

Crate training is good as long as you get him to go before you put him in the crate. First thing in the morning when he gets up take him out and don't let him back in until he goes. Praise him that he is a good boy.You have to reinforce this continually. After he eats and after he plays also. It has to be a constant training. You have to show him you are the pack leader and you are the boss. We don't rub noses in it anymore. You can also block him in the kitchen while you are home until he catches on then put him in his crate at night and he will learn that this is his safe place.

I've had experiences with that . You just have to keep going outside until he pottys and when he does, you give him a treat. Keep doing this untill they're about a year old.I also recomend crate training . you put him in a crate when your not home and your asleep and when he needs to go to the rest room, take him outside. He might go potty in the crate a few times, but he'll know that he sleeps in it so he will stop and do it outside.

USE POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT. GIVE HIM A TREAT WHEN HE DOES WHAT YOU WANT HIM TO DO.

SEARCH POSITIVE REINFORCEMET ON INTERNET.

For example:

When he is poo-ing, say "poop" over and over. that way the dog will associate the word poop with the action of doing it. Eventually saying the word will triger him to go poo. make sure you give him a treat.

Like wise with peeing.

To condition the dog to poo or to pee; you have to catch them in the action.

So if you see the dog is about to pee/poo...yell at him. Then pick him up and rush him outside to his designated area...let him do his business then reward him with a treat.

Eventually he'll learn, by the tone of your voice when he did somehting good and when he did something bad.

Again...positive reinforcement. especially if you have a large breed puppy.

I raised a Doberman and a Rottweiler using this method. They not only learnt quickly, but they also were brought up to have a good temper.

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT!!!

Kennel training worked for us. Also when they go potty in the house rub their nose in it, wipe it up and take the dog and towel outside, set it in the yard and show the dog. But, by far the kennel works great, our dog is 5 years now and she loves the kennel, it is her little house. Hope this helps...

no never rub their nose in it or hit them they don't know what your doing they just woun't like you.
do some crate training and when caught in the act say no. do not hit!! take out side and leave out for a little bit. always let him outside after taking him out of his cage even if taking him out for only 5 min. there is no need to reward him for going to the bathroom. you really won't get him to listen for awile he is only a pup. but start training him. if he bites say "NO!" and hold his mouth sut till he calms down and quiets down this may take awile the first few times but it will help. don't let up to early or he will learn to wine more. say "no!" in a loud angy voice for everything bad he does that you want corrected. if he wines or barks when kenneled. leav him alone in the dark and he will ussually quiet down. if he is older and still is doing it say no the first time if he continues spray him with water.
hope this helps and have fun with your puppy

oh the trash just keep all trash in a closed contaner that he can't tip. do not let out wile you eat of when food it set out/left out

DO NOT RUB THEIR NOSE IN IT!!!! They lick their nose and essentially YOU are then training them to eat it. Take your pup to his mistake, tell him no firmly, take him back outside and clean the area thoroughly. If he has not done the "job" he's suppose to outside, crate him or confine him to a small area. Dogs do not like to eliminate where they sleep. One little trick that has worked for me is taking the paper towel I have used to clean up the mess to the area outside I want them to use and leave it until they get the idea.
