It used to be people gave priority to people who came out to visit them. Now they are often times on the phone in the car when their friend is driving, at restaurants etc. Your thoughts please.

Yes, I think so. Too much time is going into those cell phones. People even use cell phones when in the same house/room/building!! They should be getting some exercise, and go out more! People tend to have deteriorating manner when on the cell phone, just because the other person cannot "see" them. There are people who use cell phones for something called "phone sex" which is completely ridiculous and a waste of time!!!!!!

Yes. I love my cell phone and don't even have a house phone, but there's a time and a place for using it.

For example: I think it's fine if you can drive and talk on the phone at the same time (especially if you have speaker mode on). But don't even think it's okay to go up to a drive through, sit there and yammer on the phone for five minutes after telling the person who is taking your order that they have to wait, and then get angry if the person on the other end isn't ready as soon as you're done. I've had a few people just drive off in that instance.

Wish I could tell them where I think they should stick their cell phone...!

I have to agree that manners have deteriorated with the use of cell phones. People are rude with them everywhere. Have no respect of person or place. People need to realize cells phones were created for emergency purposes. We use them these days for other reasons other then that. Remember your not at home and need to act like you have sense. People talk loudly and those bleepers cells are the worst. Ghetto as all hell making conversations known to everyone. Anyway people need to respect company, other people, environment, etc. Don't be rude.

I agree. Although I think these same people never really had any manners to begin with and it is just more obvious now because of cell phones. I cant count how many times my friend has been out to restaurants with me and answers her phone in the middle of our meal!! She proceeds to engage in a full conversation with this other person while I am left to push my food around. I have expressed this to her many many times and her solution.....TEXTING!!!!!!

True, I go out with friends and even at lunch & dinner - they are answering and making calls to others. I find that very rude, unless the call is *very* important. Today I was in line at the post office and behind me two people's cell phones were ringing - not to mention the lack of privacy where everyone in earshot can hear one entire side of the convo.

If I'm ever spending time with somebody I let the call go to voicemail. Then if it was an emergency number, or they called me in 5 minutes more then three times I'd politely excuse myself and go outside.

but yes manners are definately deteriorating.

Yes! I have friends that are constantly answering their cell phones in restaurants, etc. I find it very rude - especially if they are chatting away for a long time. It gets on my nerves.

i hate that part about cell phones.....here's a fun example that applies to even a friendly hello.

Ok so If supposedly you know who your soulmate is just by looking at them. No one is EVER going to find their soul mate. They are too busy text messaging etc. At college, ( the school I left cuz it sucked, The University of Maine) I tried desperately to make eye contact to say hellp with a cute girl....nothing....too busy texting...It's disgusting and I couldnt agree with you more..I'm so happy somone else thinks the same thing as me.

Yes. I used to work as a cashier and I'd hate it when people came up to my line chatting on their phones while I was ringing them out. I think it is so rude.
