Just curious. And if anyone knows, when they do a CT of your brain, do they usually go as far as your neck area, or do they stop before then?

An X-Ray will show the bones in the spine, but will NOT show the disks well. A CT scan will also show the bones well and will show some portions of the spine and disks, but with minimal detail. An MRI gives the most information if your doctor feels that there is a problem with the spine or a herniated disk. There are key portions of the exam and history which would lead a physician to localize a problem to the spine, and thus I can't state whether or not one is indicated in your case.

The technicians would usually stop the scan at the base of the skull when doing a CT, so they would not typically scan the neck area.

When they do a CT of the brain they only go to the base of the skull so they do not look a the neck area. If you are looking for a herniated disk, the best test is an MRI. They are a lot better for showing soft tissue and nerves than x-ray.

you should get a mri for the neck bulge, an xray shows mainly bones and I dont know about a ct scan, but I had to get a mri and it showed a bulged disk pressing the spinal cord... be careful, if you have a bulge, try not to have the surgery everyone I have talked to said it made it worse, and I say so too.

I had a bulged disk a number of years ago, and they had to do an MRI to find it. I don't remember them doing a CT, but I had a number of tests and might not recall.

a CT scan is better than an X- ray and a MRI is better than a CT scan.
