How do I open a zip file from limewire, trying to open a codec package...

You first need a program to unzip the file if it has a file extension of ".zip". A very good, and free, program to do this is called "7-zip". It's available to read about and download at the below link.
One thing I want to caution you on first, though; any file you download from Limewire or any other Peer-to-Peer source should ALWAYS be scanned with your up-to-date anti-virus program before you even think about unzipping it. Good luck.

Just go to your "Shared" folder and open it up from there. Though going to your library in the Limewire window and double clicking on the file should work too.
