I'm glad they didn't make this camera until this year, because I probably would not have bought my D200 and I LOVE my D200.

The D80 is a wonderful camera. See the following positive reviews:

My decision is the Xti (400D). Its extra low-priced the the D80 and it takes concerning a similar high quality picutres because of the fact the D80. The D80 does have extra expert valuable properties on it such because of the fact the spot meter, yet a large variety of the valuable properties on the D80 I didnt desire like trimming, purple eye alleviation, small image, etc. The D80 is a large digital camera yet for the value, i could get the 30D, yet I do a large variety of game photos so the 30D isnt the main eye-catching digital camera in case you dont desire the fast FPS. The Canon cameras do take extra effective JPEG archives, that are large in case you do no longer desire ot do any positioned up production after wards. yet on the uncooked point, the two the D80 and the XTi are calmly matched, from there it relies upon on your skills and this variety of lenses you get. For Canon get their purple ringed lenses, i attempted one and that i couldnt bypass without one, any Canon with a purple ring could have xx-xx mm f/x L <--- the L stands for luxury that's Canons professional line. For Nikon their gold rings are the superb ones they have (i don't understand the call for their professional lenses). The D80 has a similar think of high quality as Canon, why pay $3 hundred-4 hundred extra once you may get it for $seven hundred with the XTi? until eventually you have already got glass positioned money into Nikon. the motives why I didnt decision the D80 over the XTi for myself. a million) Nikon does no longer have as rapid automobile concentration as Canon lenses do. i mandatory each and all the help i will get for the reason that I do a large variety of indoor game photos. 2) extra IS lenses, whether I purely have one it facilitates alittle bit in low mild circumstances, different sensible I merely go away it off to attend to power. 3) finished physique sensors on the tip of their line (Mk-II's and the 5D) Nikon vs Canon, this agrument can bypass on continuously with flame wars. Nikon has extra effective optics in my view (my dad owns a movie Nikon) and Canon seems to have extra effective in digital camera firmware than Nikon ( I own the XTi so i'm somewhat biased to my digital camera). The D80 in case your going with Nikon, all lenses artwork for it and it will blow your techniques with the think of high quality. merely bear in mind 80% of chocing a SLR is in keeping with own opinion (tough est.). in case you have used a Canon use a Canon, in case you have used a Nikon use a Nikon. bypass to a community digital camera keep and take a verify out one out your self and notice which one you like.

Well if you looking to upgrade this would be big upgrade from your prevoius camera, cause the D80 can be used for proffesional level photography if you dont understand how photography works then dont buy the D80 because it will have alot of stuff on that camera that you wont understand.
