I took antibiotics for 25 days but they can't give me more, its not healthy, It went away while on them but now headaches are back. I am on my dentists waiting list for a root canal, I have had a headache everyday. Is this normal?

HI,
HAVING AN ABSCESS FOR THAT LONG IS NOT GOOD. YES, YOU CAN HAVE HEADACHES FROM AN INFECTED TOOTH. FORGET WAITING FOR YOUR DENTIST, CALL YOUR LOCAL ENDODONTIST ASAP!! HELP YOUR HEADACHE BY TAKING AT LEAST 800 MG OF MOTRIN EVERY 4 HOURS. GOOD LUCK AND CALL ASAP!

I think you posted in the wrong section. Take your antibiotics as you planned and call your dentist's office in the morning. A headache after having a tooth pulled isn't that unusual. And, yes, the infection can spread which is why you are still on antibiotics. Both of these are relative, so call your dentist to be safe. No one here can tell you with any certainty that you are okay or that you need to see your dentist asap.

Be very careful with that abcess, a friend of mines went to a funeral today, one of her friends died because of an abcess that burst it was in her mouth. I hope you take this more serious because an abcess is poisonous and can cause serious problems including death.

yes, the infection will cause mouth pain, headaches, sore throat, swollen lymph glands. Will your dentist give you anything for the pain? Just keep rinsing with salt water to try to keep it at bay. Get in with the dentist asap, or even get another dentist to perform it. Good Luck!

Absolutely they can cause a headache! You can go to your local doctor about it, not just a dentist. If it were me, I would go to my doc and get some pain medication to tide you over until you see your dentist.

Your two previous answers are strange and archaic at best. Can have such an effect.See if your dentist (not your physician, who is not trained to address pain of dental origin as well as your dentist is) will provide you with some form of emergency care to address your pain in the interim.

YES, IT CAN.
WHY ARE YOU WAITING FOR A DENTIST'S APPROVAL?
ANY ENDODONTIST WILL DO THE WORK WITHIN A DAY OR TWO. AT LEAST HE/SHE CAN GET YOU OUT OF PAIN MY DOING A NERVE EXTIRPATION PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED BY COMPLETION OF THE ROOT CANAL AT A LATER TIME.
