I've been in both the type of church you mention and the reserved church. The above church had the congregation charged up on God well past 2 or 3 in the afternoon...while they all socialized and enjoyed sharing a meal which was held every single Sunday, in the church's basement.
The quieter church, it was a rarety to see a single car left in the parking lot 15 minutes after the service, the Minister included.
The active church members had no chance to sit in their pews and doze off, organize their afternoon schedule or gaze off into the blue...the quiet church seemed to have a lot of that going on.
The active church never printed up bulletins that spelled out in writing the names and dollar amounts that each family or individual had tithed to the church as the months past, the quiet one made a point of it and also praised to the Heaven's those members who tithed most. This ritual I found deeply disturbing simply because there were members who simply couldn't come close to the top "contributors" and the embarrassment? Obvious.
Nope, I'd take an active church any day...I never met any of the active members outside of church who weren't exactly the same person that they were inside church whereas some members of the quiet church paid no attention if they saw you on the street yet talked up a storm with you at church...a number of them had their own businesses and they would overcharge people for goods, people whom they attended church with and they would gossip like no tomorrow.
Two totally different atmospheres yes, and two totally different group of people....good and bad in both of course...but I got 100 times more from the active church in one year than I got from the inactive one in twice that time and when I left the active Church every Sunday I was charged right through til the next Sunday service...the quiet church...that charge never even arrived.

I think if they are screaming and crying for no reason of course it is weird. If it's something we are not used to then it will be uncomfortable because of it's newness to us. But, if there is a reason for it then it may not be a bad thing. I see some have answered calling it the devil, and some God. I say God moves in many ways. Look it up in the bible. People have danced, people have shouted, people have torn off their clothes (not saying we should do this in church... lol) people have done all sorts of things scripturally speaking...in the spirit of God and emotionaly as a repentance to God or praise to God... all of it loved by him i'm certain as a broken heart God loves-HE MADE THIS KNOWN TO US IN HIS WORD! So, why should we say this if of the devil? Whether you read KJV or NASB or NASV or whatever i'm certain in 1 Corinthians chapter 13-15 you will find reference to this topic.... a division of tongues from the prophetic to the prayer language and none of it is called the devil...In this area Paul himself says He speaks in tongues more than all of us but the key is He would rather us speak one sound word for the edification of the church if we are going to be loud about it than 10,000 in a tongue because the tongue is a sign for the unbeliever... and we are told NOT TO FORBID the speaking in tongues in scripture within that same segmant as well... I would assume if it was of the devil paul would have banned it... we are just called to be wise and prayerful in approach. The problem is most of us are extremists... we have to be taking a radical stand somewhere so we jump around shouting at eachother from far away isntead of finding the ballance of commen sense and passionate abandonment called for... While the charismatic movement may have 'missed the mark' in some areas of other writers have posted ... so has every other movement in history-they all have possitives and negatives. The point isn't that it(the movement) is fallable... it's that God's body is made up of broken fragments... fallable people. WE are all broken. We all have strentgths and weaknesses. We all learn as we go. We all grow. I think we should be open to possibillity of God being able to do whatever he wants however he wants to do it whenever he wants if we truly believe He is more than the words on the page of an old book we read...After all we do serve a living God right? Quit arguing with eachother. Start blessing and praising God for the possitive thing s in eachother and encouraging eachother in those things. Seek HIM and pray for guidance in every situations ... then things will fall into place if we listen we will know what is right and wrong ... what is God and what is not. I've seen people babble meaningless things ... calling it God... but i've known the spirit of God and He's moved in me to cause me to speak in an unknown tongue before during intercession... i've witnessed odd things in my walk with the Lord. I've seen a woman fall down screaming. I've also seen the same woman I knew for years get back up with 2 legs the same length the first time since i had known her. I've seen people role around and emotinoaly they got up and were healed. I've seen some make a show and just be stupid. I've seen it all. Devils cast out. A little kid utter their first word at the age of 7.... some drop to the floor screaming ... some dance... some sit in silence ... some praise God by shouting some by kneeling in prayer... we are all different and all preciouse parts of His one BODY ... saved by Christ filled with one Spirit ... pray for unity in the body as it was/is GODS HEART.

Christians are not supposed to act like that. One of the fruits of the spirit is self control!

I GO TO A PENTECOSTAL CHURCH.WE FREELY WORSHIP OUR GOD AND SAVIOR JESUS.
WHAT I THINK IS STRANGE IS PEOPLE WILL GO TO A BALL GAME AND SCREAM AND YELL AND ACT CRAZY.BUT WILL NOT LIFT UP HANDS TO PRAISE THEIR CREATOR OR SAVIOR.
ARE YOU ASHAMED TO WORSHIP GOD?
WILL YOU LIFT YOUR HANDS AND THANK HIM FOR YOUR SALVATION?
REMEMBER JESUS SAID" IF YOU ARE ASHAMED OF ME -I WILL BE ASHAMED OF YOU."
I AM NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST FOR IT IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION.
THE BIBLE CLEARLY STATES IN THE LAST DAYS I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT ON ALL FLESH.
BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT TALKING ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE.GOD SAID "TOUCH NOT MY ANOINTED "
NEVER SAY IT IS OF THE DEVIL
THAT IS THE UNFORGIVABLE SIN.
WE DO NOT SCREAM.WE DO PRAISE.
IF YOU DON'T PRAISE GOD,BUT YOU PRAISE A BALL PLAYER.YOU HAVE SET THAT BALL PLAYER UP AS YOUR GOD.
