Just wondering if anyone else would be mad if their child saw this at his or her grandparents' house. I'm not sure which one it was. I'm furious and my husband agrees but they think it's silly for me to care. We don't allow her to watch TV at all and her grandparents know that.

I'm glad to see some of the rest of you agree with me and I'm not just "overprotective".

I should add that she only saw about five minutes of it when I walked in and saw her and her Grandpa watching it and put an end to that really quickly, so I hope she hasn't been too scarred, though I certainly will make sure it never happens again.

Even Sesame Street causes children to be more violent than no TV, though the show is completely non-violent. We are firm on no TV.

No, no, no. No 3 year old (or even 10 year old) should be watching James Bond.

I watched "Fear Factor" with my 4 year old a number of months ago. People laying in a casket filled with bugs still comes up in her nightmares and in daily conversation. It really traumatized her. Dumb daddy, lesson number 43 learned... Next.

TV has gotten so violent and full of sex that we don't let our children watch anything but PBS kids shows. Even some of the rated G Disney stuff is incredibly violent. My daughter couldn't even sit through "Aladdin".

3 year old's are total sponges. They pick up on everything. Violent TV goes straight into their little brains and won't come out. It is the job as parents to minimize the corrupting influences of the world until they have built up the tools necessary to deal with it in a healthy and constructive way.

At that age, I don't even think the kid is even going to comprehend much of the movie.

While I applaud the fact that you don't park your child in front of the TV (there are WAY too many people who act as if they have never willingly cracked a book in their lives), you should consider easing up. There are some programs that are actually good for kids. "Sesame Street" may look stupid to you, but it is educational. Just no Barney! That sickeningly sweet purple dinosaur is evil and rots the brains of children.

If she is at someone elses house then you can not expect that person not to have a TV on. I would talk to your inlaws. Let them know for future reference that you do not want your child watching TV. If they do not respect your wishes after that then you will have to find another babysitter.

No, James Bond is not appropriate. If they let your child watch it, then you need to tell them that was not okay, and if it continues, they will no longer get to watch your child. They need to follow your rules.
Good luck
