Most cars do that sometimes. One of your sensors could be bad or it could be something really wrong with your car. It is an old model and Auto Zone will check it for free and try to determine what the problem is...

I had the same thing ....I had a 95 sentra xe and everything seemed to run fine,..... I had it checked bc the check engine light came on and they told me it was the oxygen sensors an expensive but not all together necessary fix depending on how much you drive your car.

DO NOT drive that car until you get it professionally checked out! It may be something as simple as an oxygen sensor, but it could be something so serious that it blows the engine. So don't drive any car any further than to the nearest reputable mechanic when the check engine light is on!!

I had the same problem with mine,it stays on constantly. I had it fixed - the thermostat, less than a week later the light came back on and has stayed on since, for 1 & 1/2 years. I disconnected my battery overnight and when I reconnected it, the light was off. I tried the AC and the light came back on. Mine is a short in the AC . Maybe some of this might help you.

The engine computer has identified a trouble code with something. Typically, it's emmisions equipment. If it drives ok, you can get away with it until inspection. You'll have to figure out how to query the computer and retrieve the code so you can find out what it is.

well it is an engine light so it does effect the.....DUN DUN DUN....engine. take it to an auto zone or something like that and rent their engine light dianostic machine. hook it up and do it to it. it will give you a fault code. then research the fault code and you will know what is wrong. it probably is your fuel system. try tighting your gas cap.

if you,ll take it to any auto zone they,ll check it for you,and tell you why its coming on,,its probably a bad sensor on it,but without checking it first it would be a hard one to diagnose, but they will check it for free if you,ll take it to them, and then you,ll know for sure,,good luck,i hope this helps,
