I heard that there are no seatbelts in the cars in Cuba and it's worrying me....is this true? Also, my child still drinks her bottle (homo milk) 3 times a day - what should I be giving her in place of this. Help please.....thanks!

Take a car seat that is FAA approved -- if nothing else, it's going to be useful in the airplane. Much more comfy napping in a car seat.

I don't know about the seatbelt thing in Cuba. Maybe just the old cars are like that? Check and see where they import their cars from, or write to the car rental agency you want to use and check.

Milk can be pasteurized in a pot. See if your hotel has any hot plates or things that can help you deal with this. Bring the milk almost to a boil, then let cool, covered, until it is drinkable.

If you are going to be getting in and out of taxi cabs, the car seat will be very cumbersome and a pain. If your family (or whoever you are visiting) has their own car - definitely put the car seat in (with a 5 point harness!).

18 month olds generally have been weaned from a bottle. Perhaps it is time to find other sources of calcium and protein and do away with the bottle altogether. A few days without milk isn't going to do any long term damage. If you are super set on giving milk - they sell milk boxes (similar to apple juice boxes) at the grocery store. Your 18 month old might enjoy drinking it from a straw, and it can be taken in the suitcase and stored at room temperature!

Take a car seat. Even if there aren't seatbelts, which I am unsure of, the child will be safer in it than out of it. Besides, if there are seatbelts, then you will be sure to have a car seat!

Better safe than sorry.
