Mormons do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God. They think HE was only a prophet.
No they are not Christian. To truly be a Christian you need to be like Christ.

The Mormons believe all men are the sons of God and any one of us may by like Jesus and have a world of our own to reign over. I'm serious folks. There is a lot of Mormons who don't even know this yet but it was stated by one of their Latter Day Saints and therefor must be true (at least to them.)

No because they believe that Jesus was the "son" of GOD but not that He and GOD are also one and the same. They believe that satan was also a "son" of GOD and that Jesus and satan were/are brothers. This is not true. satan is a created being but Jesus always has existed. They also believe that we can become "gods" just as the real GOD is. They believe that the real GOD was once a man who was elevated through his good works. They also believe that GOD has a bunch of "spirit" wives whom He has sex with to create "spirit babies" who then come to earth to get a physical body.In their teachings when Christ was crucificed it only paid for Adam's sin instead of the sins of all mankind. Poligamy has always been condoned in this belief system also. They do not,for the most part, still do this because it is aganist man's law. Until the civil rights movement they held that blacks would not go to Heaven because they were descendants of satan's fallen angels. That is why,I've read, that the Mormon Church has the best genology records around. They use this to make sure those wishing to gain membership do not have any African American ancesters. To them there are three levels of Heaven and blacks will never make it past the first level. They carry a Bible but they only read certian passages from it the rest comes from the "Book of Mormon" and other related books like "Perils of Great Wisdom", these works are contrary to the Word of GOD in Every way.
Like I said,No they are not Christians. This is not me being judgemental of them, per say, just of the false docturine they have been tricked into believing. I am sure my answer will get me turned in, but thats alright too.

FIRST OFF: Non-Mormons answering this question do not know what they are speaking about. How could they if they have never been a Mormon and therefore don't have a grasp of Mormon belief?

The correct name of the "Mormon" church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They take the sacrament (similar to a Catholic communion) in remembrance of Christ every week. They are baptized in the name of Christ. They study the BIble. They believe in the atonement and resurrection of Christ. They believe He was the only begotton Son of God, born of a virgin, and is the Jehovah of the Old Testament and Jesus in the New Testament. Mormons strive to live a Christ-like life. Mormons believe Christ will come again and assist us all in a glorius resurrection, and will rule alongside His father in the eternities.

The Mormons study the Book of Mormon along with the Bible. The Book of Mormon is a second witness to Jesus Christ, and actually mentions Him more than the Bible does!

Even after all this, a the rumor persists that the LDS/Mormon people are somehow not Christians. It's an old rumor and keeps turning up over and over again, but is totally false. Anyone who believes it after all the evidence to the contrary is either hard-headed or gullible.

Yes, Mormons are Christians. We focus on one thing, the plan of salvation , just like Christians. We do believe, however, the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored through Joseph Smith. That's the only difference.

They also believe a whole bunch of other things.

They believe that the Holy Bible needed some assitance, which is why there is the Book of Mormon, The Doctrine of the Covenents and Some other book that they belive is scripture.
Oh yeah, The Book of Mormon was found by a 14yr old boy in the late 1800s in upsate NY burried in the dirt. It was a book of Gold and Brass plates written in reformed Hyrogliphics(sp?) well there is no such language by the way, and Joe Smith made the translation himself of course and an Angel hid the book after the translation. so there are no transcripts in a museum anywhere to prove any of this.

They believe that it wasnt until the 1970's that the God allowed the "*****" to hold preisthood responsibilities because the "Curse of Ham" (which is no such thing)

They believe that Jesus and Lucifer are Brothers and Lucifer got pissed because God chose Jesus' plan over Lucifers for salvation

They believe in babtism for the dead

Lots of other things as well.

Ton of People believe that Jesus was the Son of God.
The question is. Have you accepted the Lord Jesus into your heart. and beleive that he died for your sins and rose again on the 3rd day. end of story.

Clarification: Mormons do not believe in the Trinity; therefore, they do not believe that Jesus has eternally coexisted with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. They do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God in the sense that He was fully God at the time of His natural birth on earth. They consider Jesus as "Son of God" in the sense that He was a "spirit child" in heaven and only a natural son on earth. It should be noted that they believe all humans have their origins as spirit children in heaven who later are born in on earth.

Regarding who can be "Christian," allow me to use a simple analogy. If I gave myself the title of "accountant", I would be required to follow core essentials; otherwise, I would not be an accountant. Just because I have the ability to balance my checkbook in no way makes me an accountant. In the same way, in order to be a Christian, one must believe and follow the core essentials of the faith. Some of these essentials are: the Trinity, Christ as fully God and yet fully man, Jesus's death, burial, resurrection, and ascension into Heaven, and His imminent return to earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Yes, Mormons are Christians in every sense of the word. (And just for the record, no, I am not now nor have I ever been Mormon.)

The problem is that Calvinists just can't accept that anything beyond their own narrow minded interpretation could possibly be correct.

Mormons teach that Jesus Christ was born in heaven as the spirit child of Elohim (Heavenly Father) by one of his wives, and Jesus' brother was lucifer, who became Satan. Jesus is one of many Gods.
Mormons call themselves Christians, but they are just another religious cult (counterfiet christianity.) For a list of cults, visit http://www.carm.org/cults.htm or go to MacGregor Ministries on the web.
