Probably just gastroenteritits. My advice - clear liquids, specifically water or maybe a sports drink like Gatorade to replenish electrolytes. If you give a sports drink, dilute it to about half strength with water. Otherwise, there's too much sugar concentration.
No more Coke, or anything with caffeine or lots of sugar. The chicken noodle soup is good - it will have water, plus some salts (electrolytes), carbohydrates and protein - everything he needs.
Give a little Tylenol and/or Motrin for the fever if he's uncomfortable, but don't overdo it. These medicines work by inhibiting the release of pyrogens, which is a part of the body's immune system. In simple terms, it reduces the fever, but also reduces the body's ability to fight off the virus.
Unless he's becoming dehydrated, there's probably nothing the Dr. will do for him. However, dehydration can occur quickly in children and can become dangerous. If the vomiting persists, a Dr. may give Phenergan suppositories to stop the vomiting, which will allow him to take in and retain some fluids.
Good luck!

A simple, obvious suggestion is to let him chew on ice.
That way he takes it in slower and maybe will absorb some of it.
A little hydration is better than none. It worked well on my 9 yr. old everytime.
If the fever and vomitting continue another 24 hours I would take him in.
Good luck.

you are doing great - patience is a virtue mom
I wouldn't do coke though. just water - even a tiny bit - is good.
sometimes flat gingerale is good too.
but don't force him to drink too much, just a sip is fine to keep him hydrated.
If he is still running the temp tomorrow morning, and he develops diareha again or it become projectile vomiting, then call your doctor or health nurse right away.
He may have food poisoning, or it might just be the flu.

Sounds like he has the stomach flu, I would give him small sips of ginger ale. Also ice chips are good for him to suck on as well,he is losing electrolytes in his body to be replace so he doesn't dehydrate Gatorade is good to replace that. you can freeze it and let him suck on that. If he continues to vomit with diarrhea through to tomorrow I would call the Dr and take him. He is young don't wait too long...Hope he feels better soon.

Listen to the paramedic poster, he knows his stuff. And btw, it's not the flu, because the flu is a respiratory illness. You're doing great! Crackers & soup are perfect.

Be careful with this. He's little so he can dehydrate easily. It's not important that he eats right now. Whats important is that he still take down LOTS of fluids. I would go get him some pedialyte from the store. If he's not better by tomorrow or even now, I would take him to the pediatrician immediately. Good luck with your little one.

Kepp him hydrated with pedialite. It's probably just a bug, if it keeps up for another 24 hours call a doc and get some advice. Just try and get him to keep eating a little soup and crackers. You sound like you're doing everthing right! Hope he feels better soon.

!!!! First never him him coke, the carbonation, sugar & Carmel color only makes things worse. He needs gatorade or pedi-a-lite only. Keep pouring that down him even if he throws it up. You need to get him to the doc if it doesn't clear up after 24 hrs. He will dehydrate and things will only get worse from there. Adults can go longer than that but children dehydrate faster.

Something is obviously not agreeing with his stomach. Since there is no fever, I would consult a doctor. That probably not what you want to hear, but I would trust a medical professionals advice before someone on Yahoo Answers with my Son's health. Then again, that's just me.

Best thing to do is give him some lemon straight from the lemon pulp. It always cures that! It helps make the stomach stronger so the person won't throw up anymore.
Hope you 6yr feels better!
