If you're really dead set on getting Chinese characters tattooed. Make sure you consult someone who reads and writes Chinese fluently before getting it. Too many times I've seen people pick a character from an artist's flash and it did not mean what they were told it did our was just not a real word at all. Just some advice, get traditional chinese characters rather than simplified. Look much better, that means try to find a Taiwanese person to help you with the words rather than a mainland Chinese.

Don't let anyone here tell you what to get. Don't just get something to get something either. A tattoo will be with you forever so make it something that has meaning to you that will not change. This is important! You don't sound as if you are sure about this so i would suggest you think about it until you find something you can live with forever and be proud of. Here is a suggestion: Take the tat you are going to get and put it up somewhere where you can look at it every day. If you get at all tired of seeing it then it is not right for you.

The drawback to having Chinese characters is the fact that translations into Chinese are absolutely horrible usually because of characters being used in the wrong context. Being Chinese, I find this very funny.

are you chinese? if you're not i wouldn't get chinese characters. i always find chinese characters on someone who isn't chinese seems so out of place. they're too popular right now anyways,

if you are chinese, i would get your name. you can't go wrong with that one. maybe keep it to your first name. make sure you like the way it looks as well. don't just think of the meaning. you have to live with this for your whole life.

Why everyone like these Chinese words...I don't know. I'm not chinese so I should not get a chinese tattoo. BUT, get what you want, that is the beauty of a tattoo...you can get whatever you want where ever you want.

Side note - My friend has a Tattoo on his lower lip (inside his mouth)...I think it says "F*cked" or FTW...can't recall.

I recently read that one of the most common tattoos being removed by tattoo removal specialists is:
"GULLIBLE WHITE BOY".

And I agree with several of the answeres previously given.
Make DAMNED sure you're getting what you ask for.
But FIRST, wait until the fad passes, so you can be sure you're not getting sucked in by a fad.
And then, decide what you're going to tell the grandkids when you've got some wrinkly spots on your skin at 80.

I think you should get "I was stupid" tattooed on you, in chinese. That way when you are 83 and your great granchild asks you what the wrinkly black spot is on you, you can say "that is the chinese word for how I was back then".

Are you Chinese?

Because if not, why would you get anything tattooed on you that was in Chinese?

And if you don't know what you want at all, why get a tattoo of it?

Draw a picture and hang it on your wall or something. :/

I think Chinese character tattoos are trendy, and you will regret it in 10 years
