Yeah, just show them proof that you just turned 21. Like your driver's permit, because there it states your date of birth.

(-: Most IDs don't have a time of birth, so I think you can actually buy alcohol when you are still 20 (technically). Ie: you are born at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 1. You probably can buy alcohol *anytime* on Dec. 1, even though you don't technically turn 21 until one minute before midnight.
The big thing is having a picture ID that says you are 21. This can also be a passport, but some merchants are weird about anything that isn't a drivers' license.
Good luck, have fun, and remember, you have the rest of your life to enjoy alcohol, so don't drink it all up on your birthday!

The minute you turned 21 you can buy alcohol.
For instance, if today (Saturday, November 25, 2006) was your birthday, you would have been able to buy alcohol at exactly 12:01 AM (or 25 minutes ago).
If you didn't have a license, a passport or birth certificate would do.

They will not take a temporary license but if you have your regular license, you can buy alcohol as soon as you turn 21

It is really up to the merchant. If she or he is willing to risk hundreds of thousands in future sales on the strength that you did not print up the temp on your Dell, then probably. A better bet is to get the solide ID with the picture before you try to buy.

If you have a picture ID with your birthday on it you can buy alcohol on that day. All you need is a document with both your picture and birthdate.
