There have always been wars, always been famines, always been earthquakes, always been plagues. There is nothing new under the sun, except for the media that makes us aware of the global nature of these problems.

Let's break down your comment to illustrate how dumb it is:

"Jesus spoke of wars and rumors of war,"
Compared to previous centuries, there are relatively few wars now. Not to mention that the actual soldiers make up such a small percentage of the population. The wars Jesus spoke of were the kind of wars where every healthy man over 16 is putting his life on the line. There has never been more peace than in the past hundred years.

"famines,"
I don't know where you get your facts, but more people get enough to eat than ever before, especially compared to 2000 years ago.

"earthquakes in diverse places,"
There have always been earthquakes and as long as the earth keeps spinning and gravitational forces move tactonic plates there will be earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, etc.

"pestilences. "
You should be thanking your lucky stars that some people disregarded religion enough to study science and create the vaccines and medicine you've been taking your whole life whenever you get sick because of the pestilences that used to kill entire towns. How many medical procedures were invented by evangelicals? Guess what... praying doesn't prevent you from getting hepititis, but a vaccine sure does thanks to those non-believers.

"He also stated that those who believe in Him will be delivered up and killed for His namesake. "
That's what we call good marketing.

"This is the beginning of sorrows."
I thought all you extremist Christians get to go to heaven? What's so sad about that?

they world hasn't changed in that respect only now we have better technology . The truth of fact is religion was not the answer
and has little or no impact and whether you believe in moral
propaganda or not ; it's the quality of mind , heart and character
of deed and action that matter not the lip service and trifling
arguments of yes god /no god that matters ! If the world is bad blame your self don't cast it on antiquated religious cults.
Tomorrow they will tell me Jesus spoke of the bargains at K-Mart if they can get into your religious pocket book they will claim anything under the sun along with some truth and half truths and lies now is that confusing ...? so who cares if the antiquated truths are tainted or not if you are happy . for instance if I buy food grown with pesticides and die of cancer while the next guy eats organically grown food and dies at a ripe old age . the first is
as the tainted word and the second is the persistent truth seeking atheist . either may or may not be happy but what are the deeds or acts of character integrity and heart attributed to them . this is not trifling at all.
peaceout , grow in truth
and enjoy the life (the epicureans were right)!

Yes, your right in your observations. the Bible also mentions more bad things at Romans 1; 26 - 31 and 2 Timothy 3; 1 - 5. It even foretold the reaction of people such as some of the answerers here who don't think anything is different now than before in history. This is recorded at 2 Peter 3; 2I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.
3First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They will say, "Where is this 'coming' he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." 5But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

Who do you know is being delivered up and gilled for Jesus? I do know that which you speak of was happening a few years after Jesus died which he prophesised about and said that some of those alive would live to see it happen, which makes the intelligent wonder if he didn't also mean that the Antichrist was included in his prediction, but you know of confirmed Christians being delivered and killed?

What about the civil war?
What about world war one?
What about world war two?
What about the middle ages when half of Europe died from famine?
We are still here. Still plugging away.
A hundred years ago, half of all children born would be dead by age 5.
Things arent so bad today.

the international isn't getting worse and worse. there have been surely sessions in human history that have been far extra worse than in our cutting-ingredient era. Now there are much less wars, and such wars are contained and remoted to a pair tiny theatres as in Iraq (unjustified conflict) or in Afganistan (now not in all probability a conflict yet extra of 'seek and smash' for terrorists). With extra at stake, extra beneficial theatres of conflicts are many times prevented via international kinfolk and sanctions somewhat than direct disagreement. Our scientific progression has enable mankind to climate lots of the organic failures like floods, hurricanes and earthquakes interior the experience that worldwide aids are extra available and the effect of such failures ought to be decreased via much less suffering and hunger and scarcity of lives. in addition, we live in an era of abundance the place majority of the folk now not purely have enought to eat yet are waiting to take exhilaration in the various conveniences of cutting-edge technological know-how. via eco-friendly revolution, adequate foodstuff ought to be produced to take care of the ever turning out to be inhabitants nonetheless the great dispartiy between the haves and characteristic-nots continues to be a perennial challenge. yet this challenge has been with mankind because of the fact the daybreak of history.

You are the one that needs to wake up. War is nothing new to this world. It has always been with us and always will be, and it has nothing to do with religion, or god, or Jesus, or Mohamed, or any other god or prophet, only men and their desire to kill one another for what they perceive as their duty to the god of their choice. Religion is not a bad thing, but the people that follow it are horrid beings that would gladly kill their fellow man and bring this world to an end.

GOOD GOD GRACIOUS!!! THAT'S the type of people I am talking about in my question. People like this person who won't stop imposing their religion on others. I hope you realize that USA is a country of all faiths and religions.... Shouln't you be proposing this questions to christians alone? (this is not meant to offend christians at all don't get me wrong) because people have their own faiths and religions and what you say might sound true to me but "total BS" to others.

It is fallacious thinking to believe that all of a sudden, things are getting bad. Things have ALWAYS been bad. As for the prophets, thier record for prognostication is terrible, and depends on eager zealots taking what they said out of context and distorting it to fit the circumstances.

Neither do I believe that the Gospels are an accurate record of what Jesus may have said. In the same Gospel (Matthew) where he allegedly gives the Great Commision, he earlier says to his Apostles, "I am sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel" and "Go not unto the Gentiles, but only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." It is impossible for the Great Commission to have come from the same guy who said these things. I think the Great Commission was put in his mouth by a later, Gentile Church. So was the Apocalyptic Discourse that you referred to.
