I want to hook my computer up to my tv while being able to keep my computer moniter on. I went to best buy and spoke to Geek Squad and they told me because of my computer and tv I need a cord that has a male VGA on one end to hook to my TV and the other end a DVI to hook up to the back of my computer. I currently have it working with with a S-video cord and the quality is CRAP! Does anyone know a site that has these cords? Or another idea? I have a vaio sony computer and a westinghouse lcd hd tv. Thanks!

Practically every small town or large town has a Radio Shack....They''ll set you up with what you need....just tell them what you have......They might even have the VGA to DVI converter there...

I don't see how you can get a "cord" to go from VGA to DVI. VGA is analog, and DVI is digital. You can get an adapter for this http://sewelldirect.com/gefenvgatodviadapterwoscaling.asp?source=techblog but of unknown quality and expensive. You should get a DVI card for your computoer that will provide a DVI output. If your TV has a DVI connector, use that. If your TV has an HDMI connector, you can get adaptors for that.

Pls understand that you wouldn't be able to get clear images for PC stuffs other than Movies on your LCD TV / HDTV / CRT-TV. Unless you TV come with a monitor input ( 25 pins ) socket for PC output. if you TV have that ,just get a split cable for your TV and monitor.

Yeah so long as the tv you have has the VGA connection on it, didn't see it on the link for the tv. Important thing to remember is that VGA only carries video, you sound won't come through the tv, it will still come through the PC speakers.

quality is only as good as the weakest component - TV - Video caed - screen resolution on the monitor - running the monitor and tv at the same time might rquire more resources to improve quality.

EBay has a plethora of these. They should also show pictures of each end of the cable to make sure you are getting the right cable.
