I don't believe its simply a case of bad parenting, I believe that its a societal issue. We have accepted movies, TV show etc where no evidence of manners is worked into the script, its like an unpracticed art if you don't use it you lose it...and sadly that's what society has allowed to happen. Respect towards others has slipped to an all time low and people are only just realizing how damaged society has become, parents verballing abusing children in such a way that everyone in the street is looking, I even saw a child slap her mother in the face, women abusing men because they held a door open....we could all blame the women's movement, TV, poor parenting the list goes on but what we really need to do is stop looking for someone to blame and reverse the trend, by making sure we always model politeness, good etiquette, smiling and by doing so consistently people will begin to return it and hopefully this will have the domino effect around the world, I have faith in human nature, I practice random acts of kindness and I enjoyed the movie Pay it forward because if we all did our bit the world would be a better place.

What do you concentrate on "speaking decrease back?" as an get mutually, if someone were to say, "I disagree with you because the calculator says 2+2 = 4" (purely an get mutually) would you concentrate on that speaking decrease back? I had some instructors who were unjustifiably advise to students. I also had classmates who were unjustifiably advise to instructors. I actually have also had encounters with decrease than pleasant elders. the international often is dropping worry-free manners and etiquette, no longer purely the more youthful generations although the more youthful ones seem worse. the more youthful generations lack worry-free manners and etiquette because they don't seem taught about this. inspite of the actuality that if their father and mother do communicate with them, there are nevertheless those father and mother who set very undesirable examples and movements are louder than words. you won't be able to assume a baby to "do as I say no longer as I do" because the youngster has a organic tendency to save in ideas what they see better than what they are informed. sure, children are growing extra self-dependent because of technologies and a lack of face-to-face contact with others, although the father and mother have the duty to reveal them and practise guide them by life. father and mother might want to no longer purely enable technologies advance their children for them. different "elders," no longer all, are literally not so properly-mannered both. some experience that they are allowed to administration human beings like airborne dirt and dust purely because they have a better numerical age than the different human being which works with the "do as I say no longer as I do" situation. EDIT: sure, they are elderly and deserve interest, yet why carry out a touch of them attempt to purposely galvanize rude habit? Is it purely purely so that they could ***** about how rude everyone looks?- end edit i imagine it also has to do with the growing to be inhabitants often. there are various extra human beings crowded into one area than there have been many years decrease back so everyone seems to make certain to get cranky. i'm no longer declaring its perfect and that i'm no longer justifying undesirable manners by any ability, yet i imagine that this performs an element to boot to each and every thing else.

I'm with 'simple' I use manners often...I think it is my southern upbringing. When I moved to the north, it seems the people weren't accustomed to my kindness. If someone wishes you a nice day, you return the kindness. Bank Tellers and Cashiers are super surprised when I wish them a nice day before they do. They are just trained to do so when they serve the customer, but I do it because I truly wish them a nice day.
And stopping to help someone if they drop something...I saw a croud of people walk by a little old lady who had dropped some papers the other day. I was ashamed to be human!

That's something I have noticed too. There are some rude people out there and I wonder if maybe they were raised by rude people and think it's okay or are they just plain mean...don't care anymore....about anyone but themselves....

your parents are correct. they are just doing their part as a parent. no parents would encourage their kids to do wrong things. if parents simply don't care and leave their kids to rot, they are lousy parents. just explain to them that we're just correcting the society by teaching them some manners such as telling and explaining to them what is right and wrong. assure them that they are all constuctive argumentative topics and we know where to draw the line.

its all about ethics.

It's a lack of respect for others; It's also a lack of disciplining ones kids for fear of being accused of child abuse.
