Then why do we have dietary laws in religion? Would a God of all the universe really be that concerned about our food choices?

The Gods and Goddesses of my religion don't care one way of the other about what I eat or don't eat.

But there's some really interesting stuff out there in cyberspace about the whole anti-pork stuff:

If he cared about his people he would.

There is a demonstratable medical reason why every single one of the kosher-forbidden foods should not have been eaten in the times that the Law of Moses were given, and indeed up until medieval europe when food was much more carefully processed, stored, and prepared.

For example, there are many parasitic diseases that can be carried by improperly handled pork or poultry. Many plant roots contain virulent poisons even if the rest of the plant is perfectly edible.

I understand this only covers Kosher, but seriously, most of the rules made good sense, even if they were attributed to a deity but were really just a culmination of cultural experience and knowledge.

Fast and dietary laws are justified by climate and habits people had in the past. They were there to ensure health when there is no other means of guiding people about their health.
You have to understand that in developed countries, there is a Food and Drug department who does the same. In ancient times as it is still truth for many people in the world, religioun supplies not only spiritual guidance but also guidance on how to improve quality of life.
It is easy let other people think for us and tell us what to do.
People don't come up with rules without a reason. What happens sometimes is that the world change and people forget why they did it.

Many pastors said that according to the New Testament, God's dietary laws are no longer true.

My take as a Christian, God created us and when you become a child of God, He dwells in you-- your body becomes the temple of God. God wants us to be good to our body, and it make sense because most deseases come from our food intake. We are what we eat. God wants us to live long life, be fulfilled by obeying His purpose and will for our life. And one of them is to live healthy lives. *smile*

But He will still love us as we are, fat, thin, healthy, sick or what have you. He has an unconditional love for all of us.

The food we eat is of no special interest to God; it is the attitude we have that makes the difference. If we eat with a grateful spirit, that is all that truly matters.

wouldn't any loving Father be concerned about all the choices His children make?

fast food 24/7 vs. veggies, brown rice, fruit

what sounds better for you? The Garden of Eden was full of natural food,....meat was only introduced after sin entered.

God desires good things for us....and good health, as far as we have control over it with our choices, is one of those good things.

Yes, God created us and He wants the best for us. Since God created us and everything else He knows what is best for us to eat and what is best for us not to eat.
