Maybe it had something to do with his education. He received his Doctorate in 1955 so that cuts out the Korean war. He was born in 1929 and was already past the age to be drafted to go to Vietnam.

Lots of people don't serve in the military... in fact, most don't.
He wanted to (and did) become a reverand, like his father, became oh-so much more to millions of people. Also, at the time, while he could have joined, the military was just as discriminatory as everybody else.
But he caused a ripple effect, which allowed all of that to change.

Well..in a way he did serve policy...Soviet policy..one of the more disturbing discoveries was that he was actually on the Soviet payroll....one could argue why but the records surfaced after the fall.....much to the dismay of many....
The man did many great things and as was the case with W.EB Debois....he may have felt that he needed to align that way....Debois chose to exile to Cuba....MLKjr stayed here...

I heard that he copied his Doctorial Thesis or parts of it. Mabye that is why he did not have time to help in the military. Or mabye too busy holding marches.

If 'tecn9ne00' is trying to suggest African Americans didn't fight in Vietnam I wonder where he was when the war was on. Perhaps on another planet?.
