Everyone can. Some choose not to. God doesn't force you to accept Him. However we have all been given the knowledge of Him Romans 1:19 and 20

Prove it. =)

I think people tend to look at the whole God question from the wrong perspective. They shouldn't be asking if an omnipotent being exists. Instead, they should be asking if something exists that seems God-like to us. If there's life elsewhere in the universe, what's not to say there are lifeforms out there that beat us to the evolutionary punch by a few billion years?

Many reasons:
The One True God is unknowable and inaccessible.
Man can only know Him through God's Messengers; and His Messengers are so difficult to recognise that most of Them have been killed.
So it usually takes a few centuries for man to be illuminated by the sacred verses before they can understand the Messengers and recognize God through the Holy Books.
People of our age have been taught again about the One True God for nearly two centuries, so we can expect the universal acceptance in the following century.

Which god do you mean? Mankind has had thousands of gods. If you mean the one described in the Hebrew Bible, then there is absolutely nothing in that book that distinguishes it from other contemporary myths.

Have you ever considered that perhaps there is a creator of the universe, and all of you Bible believers are all worshipping a fictional character that has nothing to do with the real god?

I believe in God, but there is no proof that God exists. Until you can prove it, not everyone will accept it.

There is no law against being a non-beliver. Fortunately, not everyone must think alike and/or walk in lock-step! It's great to live in a country with freedom.

There are those may ask: Why do people belive in the existence of God? To each his own.

Everyone has different beliefs, that is their own free will to believe or not believe. Just as you can't convince them that a higher power exists, they can't convince you that it doesn't exist. I do believe that there is a higher power, but it's not as simplified as most major religions believe.

Just don't worry about it and be glad you have faith.
