When the baby is so far down in the birth canal that birth is eminent and the baby's' head has passed the pelvic bones and you can see the baby's head just inside the vagina or it may be out of the vagina

Crowning is whe the babies head begins to leave the vaginal canal.

Or when your checker gets to the opposite side of the board.
